The absorbance of BHQ-2 is 579 nm, and the effective absorbance range is 550-650 nm. The emission spectrum of this group of dyes fully overlaps with the absorption spectrum of BHQ-2, so that the latter can efficiently extinguish the fluorescence of the former.
