Hello everyone and welcome to the official preview of the Rus' Mini-Update. In this post, I'd like to quickly go over some of the most important features that you can expect from the update. So without further ado, let's dive straight into it!

Two centuries have passed since the Kievan Rus' buckled under the weight of the mighty Mongol Empire and collapsed. Ever since then, the princedoms of the Rus' have been subjected to the beck and call of their foreign slavedrivers, yet this may not be for much longer. The hegemony of Genghis Khan's heirs is rapidly disintegrating, with the Khanates of Central Asia collapsing entirely, and isolating the Golden Horde among a sea of disloyal tributaries. With the Great Khan's warlords no longer capable of imposing their rule over the mighty Rus', the Tatar Yoke's stranglehold weakening, the Kievan Rus' successors wage war for freedom, and for unity. Who shall emerge as the true Heir of Ruthenia?

First of all, let's talk about what is probably the most important change of the update - the merge of Russia and Ruthenia into a single formable nation. In our timeline, the East Slavic cultures were developing under various influences, be it the Muscovite Tsars or Polish-Lithuanian kings. The influence obviously led to the emergence of different national identities, which is in vanilla represented by two formable nations for the East Slavs. None of this happened in Ante Bellum, and therefore, all East Slavic nations bar Zaporozhie will be able to form Rus' as their only available formable nation. The tag uses the flag and country color of vanilla Ruthenia, however, forming the country will allow you to pick the name of your nation - Rus', Kievan Rus', Russia or Ruthenia.

One of the highlights of the update are obviously the new mission trees. The Rus' mini-update adds two new mission trees - one available to the Princes and one to Novgorod. The mission trees account for both Orthodox & Catholic religions, as well as Monarchy/Republic/Theocracy government types, but more on that later.
