Test a low-cost face mask

English researchers hope to test low-cost face masks that can detect whether someone has coronavirus before they show any symptoms.

Experts said, if successful, the method could help with large-scale screening for the virus and curb the spread of novel coronavirus.

The masks will use 3D printed strips and can trap exhaled virus in a 30-minute period.

If the task is successful, researchers will then move on to using the masks in trials with the novel coronavirus. It is expected to take between two to three months to reach the stage.
