【笔记】在...之后，除了after还可以这么说

写作中我们总要表达“在…之后”的含义， 很多同学只能想到 after，今天和大家分享几个更新颖的表达： 
1️⃣on the heels of
heel指“脚后跟”，on the heels of字面意思为“在…的脚后跟上”，引申为“在...之后”。
《巴伦周刊》中有篇文章讲到「中国央行降息以刺激经济」，文中说：
The move（n.举措） comes on the heels of disappointing data for retail sales and industrial production.
零售销售和工业生产数据令人失望，此后央行推出该举措。

2️⃣with…in the rearview window
rear指“后部”，rearview window指汽车上的“后视镜”，这个短语字面意思是“…在后视镜中”，引申为“在…之后”。
《巴伦周刊》中有文章讲到「疫情后口红销量增加」，文中说：
With the Covid-19 pandemic in the rearview window, Tsagronis, 26, believes it’s important to spend time with family and friends.
疫情已经过去，26岁的塞格罗尼斯认为，与家人和朋友共度时光至关重要。

3️⃣in the aftermath of
这个短语意为“在…之后”，尤指在不愉快事件之后。
看一个《卫报》的句子：
Puerto Rico’s remaining schoolkids struggle in the aftermath of hurricanes and earthquakes
在飓风和地震之后，波多黎各的学生们仍然在艰难中挣扎。

4️⃣in the wake of
 wake指船只航行时的“尾流，水波”，in the wake of字面意思是“在…的尾流中”，比喻“在…之后”。
今年2月的《经济学人》有文章讲到「为预防枪击事件，美国多个城市实行青少年宵禁」，题目是这么写的：
In the wake of violence American cities resort to youth curfews.
暴力事件过后，为了维护社会秩序，美国城市开始实行青少年宵禁。
