今天是五四运动的104周年。

    词汇：protest：反抗，反抗性质的游行（不建议使用riot）

    对抗：confrontation

    充满敌意的，互相敌视的：confrontational

9- 登上政治舞台：mount to a political force。这里注意不要和amount to搞混。

    mount to 动词短语：逐渐成为

    amount to 动词短语：数值、数量等同于，积攒了财富

10- 为中国共产党的成立在思想上和干部上准备了条件。本句为难句。

    难点：理解“在思想上和干部上准备了条件”，到底是什么程度的准备。这里并没有提及全部准备好的这种程度，只是提供了条件，那么这里使用provide即可。干部本身翻译成cadre，但是这里用crew就行，思想用ideology，mind的格局显小。

        The May Fourth Movement, which was ignited by China's diplomatic failure at the Paris Peace Conference, took place on the fourth day of May in 1919 in Beijing. It is a thorough patriotic campaign against imperialism and feudalism initiated by young students, strengthened by the participation of various classes including the general mass, citizens, merchants and workers by means of protests, petitions, strikes and violent confrontations against the government. The May Fourth Movement was an epoch-making campaign throughout China's revolution history, an epic anti-imperialism and anti-feudalism, profound mind-emancipation and new-culture movement, which marked both the prologue and beginning of the New Democratic Revolution of China. Since then, the proletarians have mounted to a political force, which greatly provoked the power of the general mass. The movement, invigorating the spirits of democracy and science under the banner of patriotism, gave a major push to the wide spread of Marxism in China and provided crew and ideology for the foundation of the CPC. May 4th was ratified the Youth Day by the Government Administration Council of the Central People's Government of the CPC after the foundation of the People’s Republic of China.
