We all face challenges in life. This injury was one of mine, and the experience taught me a critical lesson: changes that seem small and unimportant at first will compound into remarkable results if you’re willing to stick with them for years. We all deal with setbacks but in the long run, the quality of our lives often depends on the quality of our habits. With the same habits, you’ll end up with the same results. But with better habits, anything is possible.

我们在生活中都会面临挑战。这次受伤是我的一次精力,这次经历给我上了重要的一课:如果你愿意多年坚持下去,一开始看起来微不足道的改变会累积成显著的结果。我们都会遇到挫折,但从长远来看,我们的生活质量往往取决于我们习惯的质量。同样的习惯,你会得到同样的结果。但是有了更好的习惯,一切皆有可能。

The difference a tiny improvement can make over time is astounding.

随着时间的推移,一个微小的改善所能带来的差异是显而易见的。

Here’s how the math works out: if you can get 1 percent better each day for one year, you’ll end up thirty-seven times better by the time you’re done. Conversely, if you get 1 percent worse each day for one year, you’ll decline nearly down to zero. What starts as a small win or a minor setback accumulates into something much more. 

原理是:如果你能在一年的时间里每天进步1%,那么当你完成任务的时候,你会进步37倍。相反,如果你一年里每天都退步1%,你会下降到几乎为零。一开始的小胜利或小挫折会累积成更大的成就。

1% worse every day for one year. 0.99 for 365 days = 00.03

1% better every day for one year. 1.01 for 365 days = 37.78
