It's called the Mysterious Fires case. Over the past few years, unexplained occurrences of fires breaking out in public have been reported. But strangely enough, the involved parties have always turned out to be the same people, or at least, that's what our findings suggest.
So that gives us reasonable suspicion to arrest these fellows, yeah? Unfortunately the suspected perpetrators often relocate themselves before we can even make our move. This assignment may sound simple, but they've been on the run for almost a decade. With you around, I hope this time it will be different.

Hey bud, hope you're comfy working from home. Must be nice getting to work remotely in your first week, haha. Meanwhile I keep getting distracted a lot here myself. Working at home is definitely not my strong suit. Fortunately I'll be taking a couple days off to catch the concert.

You're new so you must be wondering why an idol company would sponsor people like us yeah? Don't tell anyone this, but the boss is actually a big idol fan, which is probably why we get to work remotely this weekend. ;)

Plus, being the boss means he has a bunch of connections. So it's no surprise that he's buddies with the CEO of Aidoru Zaibatsu! And I'll have you know that the CEO's a pretty cool guy. Jesus Christ kid, have you seen the news? Sure, it looks like an ordinary fire, but we got multiple eyewitness reports claiming that the fire engulfed the entire downtown area in mere seconds. The media is downplaying the news for us, but the damage is actually far worse than it seems. Given the unnatural circumstances of the fire, the Ministry has been given full jurisdiction on the matter.

Look kid, I know I promised you something easy to start with, but sometimes you gotta run before you can walk. So I'm putting you on this case.

I bet the first thing on your mind right now is wondering if this incident is related to the Mysterious Fires case right? While it's plausible, those incidents have never been on a scale like this before, so I say it's unlikely. Until we can find evidence that tells us otherwise, the Ministry's focus is to understand the cause of the flames and make sure there's no widespread panic.

Now don't go grabbing your trenchcoat and notepad just yet. We have procedures to follow. And despite the severity of the damage, we do have this situation under control. The fires finally died down earlier this morning. Sounds crazy that it took this long, right? But yeah, that's just how stubborn and unnatural those flames were. That said, with safety no longer an issue, our field agents can now begin their work. I know this sounds like a government cliche, but it will take a while for them to finish up preliminary investigations. So yeah, guess it'll be a couple days before we can see a report.

But I am on the ground myself, so I can clue you in a little. Right now there are a couple of major investigation points that we're curious about.

1. Despite the massive scale of the fire which caused ridiculous amounts of property damage, almost everyone who was caught in it made it out unscathed. It's almost like a miracle.

2. Those who didn't make it out were charred to a crisp. We discovered a number of severely burned corpses out here but... they don't really look human? Or maybe they were human but the fire deformed them beyond recognition.

For the time being, we are gathering witness statements to get a clearer picture of what went down. My guts tell me there's something more to this case, and mark my words kid, we will get to the bottom of this.

I bet you saw the official Twitter's update on the situation. Maybe you're a little disappointed that it was just a gas leak. Well I'm here to tell you that it's not the case.

First of all, there was no gas leak. It's just a cover story to appease the public. It's easier to work when people aren't out and about in a panic.

In terms of the fire, we traced the spread to its origin... and it took place in that very restaurant. By checking whatever we could recover from the CCTV footage, we found that there were two individuals who actually got out of the restaurant unscathed but are not accounted for in our list. The footage was badly damaged, however, so we couldn't identify them.

Anyway, if you ask me what I think about the whole case so far, I say something else went down that day in that restaurant which triggered the fiery incident. We have witness statements that may confirm this, but it's too early to bring that to light. So right now our best lead lies with the identities of the two missing individuals.

As for the 36 charred victims... Well, we sent those to the lab for DNA testing. Initial findings tell me that their structural composition resembled humans... but I can't really say they're 100% human, not especially with how they look.

Might be a lot to take in now, but I'm sure there's more to come in the following days. I'll let you know ASAP if we get anything, especially about this supposed second event that happened in the restaurant.

So remember what I told you about a second event happening and how I'd tell you when the final report goes out? Well, guess I'll save myself the trouble of doing that since one of the victims decided to spill the beans on Twitter.

And yes, what he said more or less matches our findings based on our investigations since he was the one who started this mess.

Anywho, it's not gonna end well for the guy. We have a strict policy on making sure the public peace is preserved. If he refuses to back down on the "allegations"... he might have to sleep with the fishes, if you know what I mean.

But anyway, almost everything he said checks out... except the existence of this Devil cult? There's no smoke without fire, so I'm inclined to believe they exist. However, we couldn't find any evidence of them at the scene. Wherever they went, they covered up their tracks good.

The cult and the fire are being considered two separate matters for now. We're looking into the fire, so our attention is focused on the individuals in the CCTV. Perhaps we could wring more details from the guy... but we'll see.

Another team will handle the Devil cult, starting by analyzing those "Protodemons" (yes, that's what we're calling them) in detail.

This Damian guy has been on our monitoring list since he lost his marbles the other day. It's pretty much nonsense so far, but last night one of our employees made contact with him and brought up some interesting info.

You see, pretty much all victims but those two have been accounted for, and I can say with certainty that no one we know of had injuries to the head and chest.

But judging from the statement, it sounds bad enough right? The man has to get treated somehow, I'm sure of it.

I'm going to cross-reference the details of the injuries with the database of registered patients in all medical centers in this city. Basically I'll be checking if anyone interesting comes up in the system who got treatment after the fires happened.

We're on to something here kid, I can feel it.

We got a hit, kid! One of the hospitals we investigated had a matching description. Thanks to that, we were able to pull up the man's health record and get a hold of his details and address. This is the biggest lead we got that will hopefully lead to his and the pink-haired girl's capture.

We're preparing some arrest warrants, and hopefully we'll be able to nab them both soon. With any luck, we'll be able to get to them before they run away.

Anyway, I figure you might be a little confused about the whole thing, so let me bring you up to speed. Remember the Mysterious Fires case I told you about the other day and how I thought it had nothing to do with this case? Well, I was wrong.

I've attached the case file here for you to examine. Open it with an archiver. All will be clear once you have a look through it.

Sorry you haven't heard from me in a while, kid. Had to keep things low on our end so that nothing about the plan to catch the suspects leaked out. The elusive Lovelock family has been on our radar for so long, and we weren't going to let them give us the slip again this time. There were concerns about moles in the ministry, so fortunately our precautions paid off.

First off, you might be wondering from the official statement about the second suspect. Basically what happened was that when our task force stormed their residence and tried to apprehend everyone there, the man suddenly appeared and threatened to burn everyone and everything down to the ground.

We weren't sure if he was bluffing, so we tried to... negotiate.

It wasn't the nicest of things to do, but we had the wife and their daughter hostage. It took a little convincing but we managed to settle things out with him turning himself in exchange for not apprehending his family. Said he'll admit to everything that has happened as long as they were unharmed.

And so that's what pretty much went down. The man has a lot to answer for, and I hope we'll get the answers we want. I'll keep you updated with his interrogation so you can keep track of some hopefully vital clues.

Anyway, about our arsonist friend...
Last week our officers grilled the guy for details. Whatever he spilled, we compiled them in the attachments I listed out here. There's some interesting tidbits here and there so I guess you might want to take a look if you want a clearer description of what went down on the day of the attack. They're just text logs by the way, so there's nothing special about it.

Based on the officers' evaluations, MOSNA transferred the guy to a different facility for the time being. As always, I'll let you know if there's any updates.

It was never mentioned publicly but Aidoru Zaibatsu pumped in millions into MOSNA affiliated charities. I know they're a rich company and all, and the Boss does happen to be on good terms with their CEO. I just found it jarring that they'd be donating that much to us. I guess it's done in good faith, but I'm not really sure...

OK I lied... I tried looking her up... but there's barely anything on her compared to the rest of the talents employed in the company. Which is a little weird but I guess that goes to show how serious they are about the top talent's personal information I guess.

Strangely enough, I could say the same about James Bosovdis. There's not much info about him either. He just sort of appeared out of nowhere a couple years back to become the company's showrunner. Rumor is that he's the grandson of the former CEO, who has disappeared from the public eye since. The man has a reputation for being absolutely stubborn, so the fact that he retired to make way for his grandson has been noted as odd as well.

Whatever it is, had the old man stuck around, the Zaibatsu wouldn't be like it is now. James was the guy that transformed the company into the entertainment giant it is now. Prior to this, Aidoru Zaibatsu was, and I guess, still is, one of the biggest mining conglomerates in the world.

I'll try looking through some more stuff when I can. Moonlighting as a spy while being a security guard isn't as easy as I thought. I'll check back in with you if I have some more information.

Well kid, we didn't manage to get much from the place. Pretty much almost everything is burned or ruined. We didn't find any bodies, so there is a possibility that Mrs. Lovelock and her daughter survived and managed to escape.

I guess they did, because it's either that or they were completely... you know... obliterated. That said, we did manage to find remnants of something at least. Pages of a diary, probably belonging to Mrs. Lovelock. They're badly damaged and hard to make out, but not completely unreadable. Have a look in the attachments yourself, kid.

Anyway, it seems like we're really dealing with a supernatural individual after all in little Miss Lovelock herself. Just who is she? If the diary is to be believed, where did she come from? And what in the world is this 'rose' that never wilts is supposed to be?

Well I don't know if it's really suspicious or whatever, but that list of elements that you mentioned have been in circulation through various cities as part of something called Project NCT. I guess that stands for National Concert Tour or something.

Some of the cities involved are like New Lux City, Lazuli Vegas and so on. As an Angel fan, I know those by heart that they're the previous concert locations (and also the same locations for the upcoming simulcast concert too!).

So yeah, that's pretty much the odd thing about the whole matter. I don't get why you'd need all those chemical elements at concert locations to be honest, but I guess that's something you'll be explaining to me soon.
