for fear that、in case、lest…

if only…

① It is (high) time (that)…

It is (high) time (that)… 表“是做…的时候了”，后面的从句中会用到虚拟语气，从句中的谓语动词采用过去式或“should＋动词原形”形式。should不能省略。

It is high time that we did something to protect our home.

(It is high time that we should do something to protect our home.)

是时候做点什么来保卫我们自己的家园了。

It is time the workers began to work.

(It is high time that the workers should begin to work.)

是工人们开始做工的点了。

It is time that somebody should teach you to behave yourself.

(It is high time that somebody taught you to behave yourself.)

是时候有人教教你守规矩了。

② for fear that、in case、lest…

for fear that、in order that、so that…所引导的目的状语中，谓语部分一般使用虚拟语气，采用“should＋动词原形”形式，意为“以免/为了…”

Teacher reminded Tina a thousand times of it for the fear that she should forget.

老师无数次地提醒了蒂娜，以免她忘记这件事。

I have come all the way here in case you should say a goodbye to me.

我一路赶来就是为了能够听见你的“再见”。

I quit my job lest I should no have time to prepare for my paper.

我辞去了工作好以免自己没有时间准备论文。

③ if only

if only后的谓语动词一般用过去式，表现在没有实现的愿望，意为“要是…就好了”:

If only she were here.

要是她在这就好了。

If only Tina could be more patient.

要是蒂娜再耐心一点就好了。

If only I mastered more foreign languages.

要是我能再多掌握几门外语就好了。
