Vocabulary:

Door-to-door salesman (saleswoman) [salesperson]: going from one house or building in an area to another;

direct selling = door-to-door

exquisite: very beautiful; delicate

accent: 大家以前只知道他的 noun的用法吧, AE/BE accent,本句作为 verb,to emphasize something

harmless: no harm

harm: to hurt sb

disturb: interrupt. e.g. no disturbing

stare: ~ at sb |   tolook at sb without moving your eyes, because you are surprised, angry or bored

e.g. What are you staring at?

endear: ~ sb to sb | you make yourself popular and liked by them

throw(=have/give) a (barbecue) party

exceptional: = outstanding/brilliant/gorgeous/fantastic/ superb/perfect/

snip: cut sth quickly with scissors

handicap/handicapped: body or mind is injuried or damaged in some way.


Sentences:

Believe it or not = would you believe it?  

said when telling someone about something that is true, although it seems unlikely

it goes without saying: to say that sth is so obious (=easy to see or find out) that doesn't need to be explained

e.g. It goes without saying that smoking is harmful for your health.

tried and true: sth that has been proven working

e.g. It's tried and true.

depend on: you need it

year (day) in and year out: continuously or repeatedly over a period of years (days)

barge in: to enter a room suddenly and noisily usually interrupting sb in a rude way

e.g. The kids just barged in wiouth knocking.

barge in on sb:

e.g. She barged in on me when I was in the bathroom.

You don't have any reason to ....  you shouldn't feel embarrassed

Do you have any reason to believe that MIKE still resides there?

as harmless as a cherry pie:  SAYING, no harm to anybody

a heck of a .. : AE, sth is really impressive or good

e.g. That's a heck of a game.

no kidding: you understand or agree to what sb just said

Don't be ridiculous: strong form to disagree with what sb has just said
