Photoelectrocatalytic (PEC) glycerol oxidation offers a sustainable approach to produce dihydroxyacetone (DHA) as a valuable chemical. In this work, Duan and co-workers achieved the reaction by fabricating Bi2O3 nanoparticles on TiO2, in which Bi2O3 prefers to interact with the middle hydroxyl of glycerol that facilitates 75.4% selectivity of DHA.

The bottom-up synthesis of reticular nanoparticles, such as covalent–organic and metal–organic frameworks, allows their creation molecule-by-molecule with atomic precision and potentially provides the key to the targeted bottom-up design of (nano)materials with new, fine-tuned properties and functions, opening up a new application horizon.

In this work, the reduced Ag grew in the junction site of the AgNWs following a twin-crystal growth mode, inducing an atomic-level contact between the AgNWs and the reduced Ag. This facilitates a robust physical/electrical contact throughout the AgNW networks.

We report a general and unprecedented electrocleavage synthesis of imine-linked covalent organic framework (COF) films directly on electrodes at room temperature. This strategy enables the cathodic exfoliation of the COF powders to nanosheets, followed by nanosheet migration and anodic oxidation to yield COF films with high crystallinity and hierarchical porosity.
