The "polycrisis" has forced oountries toreallocate resources and implement measures toaddress near-term energy security and affordabilityconstraints. it has also prowided an opportunity tothink about how various aspects of the “energytriangle" have ewoled. Equity and indlusivenessevolved from focusing only on aooess to embracingsustained economic development. Securitytook a leap from ensuring supplies towardsdiversifying the energy mix. And susteinability nowindludes a wider form of clean energy beyonddecarbonization, whereas transition readinessdemands more focus on regulatory and financialerironments. Considering the changing needsof the energy frontier, the Energy Transition IndexEl) framework has been revised this year toincorporate a wider approach of balancing thethree imperatives of the energy triangle - equity,security and sustainability - while harnessingtransition enabblers effectively.

The ETl benchmarks countries on their currentenergy systern perfomance and provides aforward-looking measure of transitin readiness.Over the past decade, the global ETI scoresimproved by 10%, supported by an increaseof 19% in transition readiness scores, but onlya 6% increase in system perforance soores.The Nordic countries (Sweden, Denmark,Norway and Finland) continue to maintain theirtop rankings, sooring highly on both systtemperformance and transition readiness. A fewcountries, such as Kenya and Azerbaijan.umped s gnificantly in rank this year for makingaggressive efforts towards transiticn readinessby improving their regulatory ervironment andinfrastructure. lmportantly, in the last decade, theworld's largest energy consumer, China, gained43% - approximately double the global average -in its transition readness scores, making its wayinto the top 20 as the only Aslan country. Thisreport spotlights certain countries accomplishingnotkceable achiewements or larying the grouncworkfor a robust energy transition (see secticn 6).
