在英语写作或汉译英时，什么情况下使用并列句或主从句结构？（一）
对于这样的问题，相信好多同学没有思考过。平时写英语作文，都是想到哪，
写到哪；做汉译英时，根据汉语的顺序，对着翻译。这样写出或译出的大部分
英语句子必然是汉式英语。在英语中，何时使用并列句或主从句结构主要取决
于句中相关信息的重要程度，如果相关信息同等重要，则使用并列句结构；当
信息有主次之分时，则使用主从句结构。
1. 但正如我们常说的，道路是曲折的，前途是光明的。
这一句汉语中两个信息，“前途是光明的”与“道路是曲折的” 是主次关系，所以
译成主从结构：
But as we have often said, although the road ahead is tortuous, the future is
bright.
2. 游行的学生队伍，高喊“反对饥饿！“反对内战！”的口号。
这一句中的两个信息“游行”与“高喊口号”是主次关系，所以译成主从结构：
As they marched, the students shouted the slogans “oppose hunger! and
“oppose civil war!”
思考题
在医院上班让我明白了为自己的工作感到自豪也是对工作投入的一部分。这种投入与
你把地板拖干净还是把一家大企业管理好没关系。爸爸的建议一直伴随着我所做的每一份
工作。我拖过地，也曾被提拔为一家大企业的经理。我认为爸爸会为我感到自豪。
Working at the hospital taught me that being proud of one's job is part of the
commitment to your work. It doesn't matter whether the commitment is
mopping floors clean or managing a large business well. Through every job
I have held, my father's advice has always stayed with me. I have mopped floors,
and I have been promoted to manager of a large business. I think Dad would be
proud of me.
为什么主句用过去时 “....taught me...” ,其宾语从句却用一般现在时 “ ...is part of...”
为什么 “It doesn't matter...”用一般现在时？
3. 为什么第一句与第二句没有用“and” 连接？
4.并列动名词 “...is mopping floors clean...”能不能用并列不定式代替？
5. 为什么这一句“Through every job....”以及其后一句“ I have mopped ...”
用现在完成时？这一句与上一句之间需要连接词么？
6. 为什么“I have mopped ...”与 “ I have been promoted....”用 “and” 连接？
7. 最后一句前面可以加“so”么？
