Some people believe that developments in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) will have a positive impact on our lives in the near future.

[sʌm ˈpiː.pəl bɪˈliːv ðæt dɪˈvel.əpmənts ɪn ðə fiːld ɒv ɑːˈtɪ.fɪʃ.əl ɪnˈtel.ɪdʒəns (ˌeɪˈaɪ) wɪl hæv ə ˈpɒz.ɪ.tɪv ˈɪm.pækt ɒn aʊə laɪvz ɪn ðiː nɪə ˈfjuː.tʃər.]

Others, by contrast, are worried that we are not prepared for a world in which computers are more intelligent than humans.

[ˈʌðəz, baɪ kənˈtrɑːst, ər ˈwʌr.iːd ðæt wiː ər nɒt prɪˈpeəd fɔːr ə wɜːld ɪn wɪtʃ kəmˈpjuː.təz ɑː mɔːr ɪnˈtel.ɪdʒənt ðən ˈhjuː.mənz.]

Discuss both of these views and give your own opinion.

[dɪsˈkʌs bəʊθ əv ðiːz vjuːz ænd ɡɪv jɔːr əʊn əˈpɪn.jən.]

People seem to be either excited or worried about the future impact of artificial intelligence.

ˈpiː.pəl sim tuː biː ˈiː.ðər ɪkˈsaɪ.tɪd ɔːr ˈwʌr.id əˈbaʊt ðə ˈfjuː.tʃər ˈɪm.pækt ɒv ˌɑː.tɪ.fɪ.ʃəl ɪnˈtel.ɪdʒəns.

Personally I can understand the two opposing points of view; I am both fascinated by developments in artificial intelligence and apprehensive about its possible negative effects.

[ˈpɜː.sə.nəl.i aɪ kæn ˌʌndəˈstænd ðə tuː əˈpoʊ.zɪŋ ˈpɔɪnts ɒv vjuː; aɪ æm bəʊθ ˈfæs.əˌneɪ.tɪd baɪ dɪˈvel.əpmənts ɪn ɑːˈtɪ.fɪʃ.əl ɪnˈtel.ɪdʒəns ænd ˌæprɪˈhɛn.sɪv əˈbaʊt ɪts ˈpɒs.ə.bəl ˈnɛɡ.ə.tɪv ɪˈfɛkts.]

论证一个东西很厉害的一种方式1:

There are various reasons why artificial intelligence should bring some obvious benefits.

[ðeər ɑːr ˈveə.ri.əs ˈriː.zənz waɪ ɑːˈtɪ.fɪ.ʃəl ɪnˈtel.ɪdʒəns ʃʊd brɪŋ sʌm ˈɒb.vi.əs ˈbɛn.ɪ.fɪts.]

Machines are clearly able to do many jobs better than humans, especially in areas that require high levels of accuracy or calculations.

[məˈʃinz ɑːr ˈklɪər.li ˈeɪ.bəl tuː duː ˈmɛni ʤɒbz ˈbɛt.ər ðæn ˈhjuː.mənz, ɪsˈpɛʃ.li ɪn ˈɛə.riəz ðæt rɪˈkwaɪə haɪ ˈlɛv.əlz əv ˈæk.jər.ə.si ɔːr ˌkæl.kjʊˈleɪ.ʃənz.]

For example, robots can carry out surgical procedures with greater precision than a human doctor, and we already have cars that use sensors and cameras to drive themselves. [fɔːr ɪɡˈzæmp.əl, ˈrɒ.bəts kæn ˈkæ.ri aʊt ˈsɜː.dʒɪ.kəl prəˈsidʒərz wɪð ˈɡreɪ.tər prɪˈsɪʒ.ən ðæn ə ˈhjuː.mən ˈdɒk.tər, ænd wiː ɔːlˈrɛdi hæv ˈkɑːz ðæt ˈjuːz ˈsɛn.sərz ænd ˈkæm.rəz tuː draɪv ðəmˈsɛlvz.]

Furthermore, these technologies are likely to improve safety by reducing the likelihood of human errors.

[fɜː.ðərˈmɔːr, ðiːz ˌtɛk.nɒl.əˈʤiz ɑː ˈlaɪ.kli tuː ɪmˈpruːv ˈseɪf.ti baɪ rɪˈdjuː.sɪŋ ðə laɪk.liˈhʊd əv ˈhjuː.mənˈɛr.ərz.]

In theory, this should result in a thriving economy and improve our quality of life, which means that developing artificial intelligence benefits everyone.

[ɪn ˈθiː.əri, ðɪs ʃʊd rɪˈzʌlt ɪn ə ˈθraɪ.vɪŋ ɪˈkɒn.ə.mi ænd ɪmˈpruːv ˈaʊər ˈkwɒl.ɪ.ti ɒv laɪf, wɪtʃ miːnz ðæt dɪˈvɛ.ləp.ɪŋ ɑːˈtɪ.fɪ.ʃəl ɪnˈtel.ɪdʒəns ˈbɛn.ɪ.fɪts ˈɛv.riˌwʌn.]

论证一个东西坏的方式:

Whilst there may be benefits to artificial intelligence, there are also a number of potential dangers.

[waɪl ðeə mɛɪ biː ˈbɛnɪfɪts tuː ɑːˈtaɪfɪʃəl ɪnˈtɛlɪdʒəns, ðeər ɑːr ˈɔːlsəʊ ə ˈnʌmbər əv pəˈtɛnʃəl ˈdeɪnʤərz.]

Perhaps the most serious of these would be that if people rely on robots too much for development, they could begin to lose jobs.

[pəˈhæps ðə məʊst ˈsɪəriəs əv ðiːz wʊd biː ðæt ɪf ˈpiːpl rɪˈlaɪ ɒn ˈrɒbɒts tuː mʌtʃ fɔː dɪˈvɛləpmənt, ðeɪ kʊd bɪˈɡɪn tuː luːz ʤɒbz.]

For example, if every boss of a company had their own robot and automation, they might hire fewer workers and fire incompetent employees.

[fɔːr ɪɡˈzɑːmpl̩, ɪf ˈɛvri bɒs əv ə ˈkʌmpəni hæd ðeər əʊn ˈrɒbɒt ænd ɔːtəˈmeɪʃən, ðeɪ maɪt ˈhaɪə ˈfjuːə wɜːkəz ænd faɪər ɪnˈkɒmpɪtənt ɪmˈplɔɪiz.]

This would make the robotic workforce more likely to be used and upgraded.

[ðɪs wʊd meɪk ðə rəˈbɒtɪk ˈwɜːkfɔːs mɔː ˈlaɪkli tuː biː juːzd ænd ʌpˈɡreɪdɪd.]

A longer-term fear is that these machines become so intelligent that they begin to make decisions without human oversight.

[ə ˈlɒŋətɜːm fɪə ɪz ðæt ðiːz məˈʃiːnz bɪˈkʌm səʊ ɪnˈtɛlɪdʒənt ðæt ðeɪ bɪˈɡɪn tuː meɪk dɪˈsɪʒənz wɪˈðaʊt ˈhjuːmən ˈəʊvərsaɪt.]

In conclusion,

Whilst intelligent machines will no doubt improve our lives in many ways, the potential risks of such technologies should not be ignored.

[ɪn kənˈkluːʒən, waɪl ɪnˈtɛlɪdʒənt məˈʃiːnz wɪl nəʊ daʊt ɪmˈpruːv ˈaʊə laɪvz ɪn ˈmɛni weɪz, ðə pəˈtɛnʃəl rɪsks əv sʌtʃ ˈtɛknɒləʤiz ʃʊd nəʊt biː ˌɪɡˈnɔːd.]
