一、单词

tent /tent/ n. 帐篷；

put up a tent 搭帐篷

-ful 是形容词后缀，wonder n. 奇观 + ful ->adj. 令人惊叹的

campfire /ˈkæmpfaɪə(r)/ n. 营火；营火会

go camping 去露营

creep /kriːp/ v. 爬行，匍匐；（指平行的爬）

creep out 蹑手蹑脚（别人不注意，偷偷摸摸的）

动词+ing变形容词作定语有两个意思

① 正在… 

sleeping dog 正在睡觉的狗

passing plane

②用来做…. 

listening material 听力材料

walking stick 拐杖 

a swimming pool 游泳池

a fishing boat 渔船

a waiting room 用来等候的房间，用在车站就叫作候车室，用来飞机场就叫做候机室，根据不同的语境翻译为不同的意思

comfortable /ˈkʌmftəb(ə)l/ adj. 令人舒适的；感到舒服的，安逸的；

-able 形容词后缀

uncomfortable 不舒服的

soundly /ˈsaʊndli/ adv. 酣畅地；香甜地；完全地；牢固地；

sleep soundly 睡地香甜

表示睡觉的短语:

go to bed/go to sleep/fall asleep/sleep well/sleep deeply/fall fast asleep

fast asleep意思是“熟睡”

leap /liːp/ v.跳，跳跃

jump v. 跳

jump up and down 原地跳跃

leap 指有距离的跳（位置发生变化）

Look before you leap. 三思而后行

leap year/month 闰年/月

skip v. 课文行的跳过去，单词、文章

right /raɪt/ adv. （地方、位置或时间）正好，就在； 

作副词时强调后面的形容词、副词、介词短语，不强调动词，可用just来替换

just as 正如

后面加代词时只能用just 

just you 就是你，不能用right

二、原文

Late in the afternoon, the boys put up their tent in the middle of a field. As soon as this was done, they cooked a meal over an open fire. They were all hungry and the food smelled good. After a wonderful meal, they told stories and sang songs by the campfire. But some time later it began to rain. The boys felt tired so they put out the fire and crept into their tent. Their sleeping bags were warm and comfortable, so they all slept soundly. In the middle of the night, two boys woke up and began shouting. The tent was full of water! They all leapt out of their sleeping bags and hurried outside. It was raining heavily and they found that a stream had formed in the field. The stream wound its way across the field and then flowed right under their tent!

三、课文和语法

1、Late in t he afternoon, the boys put up their tent in the middle of the field.

1) put短语

put up sth 建立、竖立； 为…提供食宿; 公告

put up with sb 容忍，忍受

He put up a notice on the wall.

I can’t put up with that little boy.

put out 扑灭，熄灭; 生产

He put out the fire and went to sleep.

The firm put out 1000 cars this week.

put away 把…收起来、放好

put down 放下，写下，镇压

The soldiers have put down the rebellion.

Put down the sentences on the blackboard, please.

put off 推迟、延期

We have put off the trip to HongKong.

put forward 提出，建议

He put forward a better plan and it changed the situation.

2) in the middle of vs in the centre of

in the middle of 在… 当中，在… 中间， 既可表示地点，也可表示时间和某个过程之中

in the centre of  在…中部/中央  表地理位置

I was in the middle of reading when someone knocked at the door.

3) late in the afternoon/morning/…

early in the morning/afternoon/evening

2、As soon as this was done, they cooked a meal over an open fire.

open fire 在野外生的火, 篝火，盆火（指无遮盖的、没有围起来的火）

用火上烤食物用over

cook a meal 做一顿饭

3、After a wonderful meal, they told stories and sang songs by the campfire.

在…之后的句式, after + n./doing/从句

by 在…旁边,靠近（但不紧挨着）

at 表紧挨着的  at the door 门边

next to = beside 与… 相邻（表紧邻着）

He sits next to me.

The next door to my house  next door 隔壁

near 在附近

4、But some time later it began to rain.

some time 一段时间

some time later 一段时间之后

some time earlier 一段时间之前

some time ago 一段时间以前

sometime 某个时候（表某个时间点）

5、The boys felt tired so they put out the fire and crept into their tent.

put out 人为的熄灭或

be out 火自动熄灭

The fire is out.

6、In the middle of the night, two boys woke up and began shouting.

in the middle of the might = midnight 午夜

at midnight

wake up 醒来（主语自己醒）

wake sb up 叫醒某人

7、The stream wound its way across the field and then flowed right under their tent!
