今天继续聊词汇（按照词汇、句子的顺序来聊）——

determination——

1. -ation结尾，名词，表示决心、决定、测定，类似的单词还有approbation认可、称赞，starvation饥饿，imagination想象。

2. 名词搭配一：one's determination  to do something做某事的决心；

3. 名词搭配二：fierce/gim/dogged determination坚强的/不屈的/顽强的决心；

4. 名词搭配三：with determination顽强地；

5. 名词搭配四：achieve something by determination凭借决心做到某事；

6. 名词搭配五：factors influencing the determination of something影响某事物的决策的各种因素；

7. 名词搭配六：rely on the accurate determination of something依赖对某事物的准确测定。

8. 动词形式：determine，表示测定、决定、影响、安排。

9. 动词搭配一：determine the cause of the accident确定事故原因；

10. 动词搭配二：determine on something/to do something决定某事/做某事；

11. 动词搭配三：determining factors决定性因素；

12. 动词搭配四：a date for an activity has to be determined一项活动日期待定。

13. 书上搭配：sex determination性别测定。

mitochondrial——

1. 专业形容词：线粒体的。

2. 形容词搭配：mitochondrial DNA，线粒体DNA。

3. 名词形式：单数，mitochondrion，复数，mitochondria，表示线粒体。

4. 书上搭配：mitochondrial diseases线粒体病，线粒体中的DNA异常导致的疾病。

重要短语：

pass on——

1. 表示传递、转达、去世；

2. 搭配一：pass something on to somebody把某物交给某人；

3. 搭配二：somebody passed on某人去世了。

4. 书上搭配：avoid passing on mitochondrial diseases避免遗传染色体病。

句子——

直译：第15章的其他新内容包含测定性别和一项正在被发展的避免遗传线粒体病的技术的新研究。

意译：第15章新内容还包括以下新研究：性别测定以及一项发展中的线粒体病控制的技术。

分析：直译定语过长，不太符合中文的语言习惯，故而拆分。以及被动语态许多时候在英语中是为了语法正确，中文中的话，不一定要把每一个被动语态中的“被”都翻译出来。
