notify和inform可以互换吗？

今天有个网友问：notify和inform可以互换吗？
遇到这种问题，我们可以查一下英英字典，我这里查的是柯林斯字典

这句话的意思，如果你使用“notify+某人+of+某事”，你的意思是：你正式地通知了某人某件事。
比如说：The skipper notified the coastguard of the tragedy.
船长通知了海岸警卫队这一灾难。
也就是说：notify比inform更加正式
另外后面配的介词不一样
notify+某人+of+某事
inform+某人+of/about+某事
Please inform us of any changes of address.
地址若有变动请随时通知我们。
