8. Visualizing Your Story---3-4.Achieving Speed In Your Painting

P89 - 00:00 

So I kind of decided to move on with this sketch, but I think that there is something I want to change and probably it's the sky like, 

P89 - 00:11还是想换一下天空。 

I want to use this color palette. I really want this sky to be very low in terms of, I want to be more rainy and the place where these guys are going should to be like very far away.

So I will keep this edge over here.

So now it's time to kind of cut out these guys really quickly, basically, I will be doing couple of all demos showing you how to like move from a fast paintings towards more like elaborate type of paintings.

But it's all doable. It depends what you need to do. Like, for example, if you need to show something to you art director very quickly. You really don't have time to finesse in everything.

So you need to be very fast at what you’re doing.So that's why you need to use all the shortcuts available to you to your art as fast as quick as possible. So let me just quickly use a path tool.

like sometimes. I prefer to use path tool because it's just very reliable. And you can change it afterwards.

So Instead of using magic wand. I use path tool.

Let's just quickly fix this wide edges whatever we can.

Also, you see there is this white kind of edge to everything to get rid of it. All you need to do is to go to. layer matte defringe. And if I Impress that one, upon the white edges coming. It's very useful.

So let's do the same with this guy. I'm getting there. And the other thing I want you to notice that I set up a timer, like I have this program over here. that tells me how much time I'm spending on this painting. And my goal for this one is not to spend more than half an hour because when you have more time, basically would I find myself doing. I just move things around a lot, without actually you're getting a good progress on my painting. So that's why I usually set up myself a goal. This is going to be a fast kind of painting type of thing. so I will probably paint the less, but I will do my best to assemble the picture as fast as possible.

And it’s a very helpful thing to do because as I said, like so many times from my experience, I have just realized that. I’m moving things around a lot without actually progressing as much as I should be progressing.

That's why I keep setting those limits to myself.

let's just move on and start. I just need to dark on the horizon. Since we've got very moody rainy atmosphere out there, Selective in darker color. Select much more multiplayer.

And also I think we need to do some treatment with these guys. Also probably will go start. Let’s delete this guy. And as you see, I'm using blending modes again because it's a very fast way, kind of readjusting your new values and the mood and stuff like that without actually going making selections. 

P89 - 07:11混合模式刷出基调不用选择。 

So make sure that you really understand the way it works. Let's just do like a rain patches over there. order kind of stylize the sky a little bit because I want to have a little bit more control of how I create the mood in my sky,

So I want to have like a rainy clouds over there. 

P89 - 08:02天边雨做的云。 

So what are you doing? Like something adjustments to make this guy even more epic? and even more dramatic. Introducing some more layers to this clouds.

Let’s just get another brush. Now I create layer like a very low opacity. To give a little bit of direction to my clouds because this is something it is very difficult to do with photos. 

P89 - 11:25换刷子，不透明度，画出方向感。 

because what would basically, I'm doing right now. I'm kind of exaggerating what I'm seeing in the clouds, to create more dynamic variation of what I'm seeing on the photo, let’s merge it a little bit. And i've got 11 minutes to go. So I better speed it up a little bit. 

P89 - 12:53混合刷子，绘制照片该有的样子。 

Let's move on to the ground. Let's just merge everything that I will do the same on the ground. So I create the layer with lower opacity. And I will start creating something direction. 

P89 - 13:12融合图层，绘制地面车轮方向。 

These guys, we're gonna try a major color to see if it works for us in terms of lighting . I can go and copy merged this one.  I will go to image mode. Match color, select layer 35. Maybe make those darker. 

P89 - 14:08图像-调节-替换颜色，变暗。 

Maybe bring those colors a little bit back. I think they look good. 

P89 - 14:17或者颜色调回一点。 

They accept this helmet. Obviously, it's very bright because the original picture was in a snowy environment, So we will go and start painting them up. 

P89 - 14:51原始图片很亮，开始绘制雪景。 

Obviously, this help us this is how that is going to catch a lot of that light. I'm just going to go and quickly simplify that calls. Because there's just too much Information.  

P89 - 15:42简化下，本身图片信息很多。 

A little bit of science. Like a reflection from the sky. 

P89 - 16:56人物背景加上来自天空的反射。 

 And also they need a little bit of warmth from the sun. It's very subtle.

Also to realize that what I'm painting over like these photos trying to follow the forms. I’m not creating just like a random brush strokes and really trying to maintain and exaggerate the forms and stuff like that.

alright we almost there. something happened to my work in public. And I'm constantly squinting my eyes. removing the details that I really don't need.

And I wouldn't see them having this kind of lighting scenario. simplifying introducing big shapes, because all that matters is like nice graphic design.

let's just quickly do something shadows. We’ve got two more minutes. 

P89 - 22:08加入锃亮和阴影后。 

Now I will just start blending things together and probably just using mixer brush holds smudge here and there. Kind of blend stuff together. I think I need to darken this horse a little bit. 

P89 - 23:08让马变黑。 

 And also the fact that I'm not really happy with is this leg. Kind of intersecting with the tail. As an artist, we always have the freedom we change things, It was not depending on the photos too much. And I quickly fix this. that's pretty much it. I will probably come back and take a look with a fresh eye after I’ve finished. 

P89 - 24:34修复马尾。稍后回来迭代。 

and overall, this is how much time you want to spend and how much stabilization and finish you want to achieve. And once you have those in mind, it will be much easier for you to get something done before your deadline.

So make sure that you set up a time limit for this one I equals 30 minutes. The next one, it probably will be 5 hours. So it all depends on what you want to do. But at this stage, like after a few couple of minor adjustments,

this painting could be ready to present it to clients as a part of your story.
