音色危机

When he was just eight years old, Troye's parents enrolled him in singing lessons, which ultimately saw the youngster performing in a number of talent shows and entertainment events across the country.

当小戳只有8岁的时候，戳爸和戳妈给他报了歌唱班，最终看见戳鹅在全国各地的一些才艺表演和娱乐活动中表演。

It made sense, considering that as a child Troye would take any opportunity to perform in front of an audience - even if it was just his family.

"It sounds clichéd, but I was always singing around the house," Troye told Manuscriptdaily.com.

Troye would later tell 60 Minutes, "Every time we had someone over for dinner I would stand at edge of the table and sing."

戳鹅后来在《60 Minutes》采访中说到，“每次我们家来客人共同进餐我会站在桌旁献歌几首。”

Troye's frist big break came in 2006 at the Channel Seven Perth Telethon, when the talented performer took on(and nailed) a duet with former Australian Idol() winner Guy Sebastion.

戳鹅第一次大突破是在2006年参加了七号电视网珀斯电视募捐活动（Channel Seven Perth Telethon），当时这位才华横溢的表演者与前澳大利亚偶像(Australian Idol)冠军盖伊·塞巴斯蒂安(Guy Sebastion)进行了一场二重唱。（2006年至2008年，特洛耶·希文连续三年参加了七号电视网珀斯电视募捐活动（Channel Seven Perth Telethon），并在活动中献唱，所募得资金将捐献给珀斯当地的儿童医院、儿童健康研究院和听障中心等机构。）【当时戳鹅才11岁啊！已经开始献身于公益了】

Just one year later and Troye was in the grand finals of the talent competition StarSearch, which led to him recording an album of covers that included "Angels Brought Me Here" and "Somewhere Over the Rainbow".

仅仅一年之后，戳鹅就进入了选秀比赛StarSearch（明日之星）的总决赛，这也让他录制了一张翻唱专辑，其中包括《Angels Brought Me Here》和《Somewhere Over the Rainbow》。

By the age of 11 Troye was performing wherever and whenever he could, singing at corporate functions and clubs, and busking on the street and at events around town.

It was clear at this point that Troye wasn't going to be pursuing a career in sports - this boy wanted to perform, and he was even bursting out from behind closed curtains in the bedroom to make a dramatic entrance.

Talking to Billboard.com, Troye admitted his early years were filled with over-the-top performances.

In between actually going to school, Troye also managed to find the time to attend numerous auditions.

In 2007 Troye played the lead role in a production of the hit musical Oliver! at the Regal Theatre.

Up until now, Troye had only been posting clips of him singing to the site, documenting his performances and covers of hit songs.

When Troye's cousin back in South Africa contacted Troye to say he'd seen a video of the young singer on the Internet, Troye realised the true potential of being online.

The clip already had hundreds of views and Troye saw this as his opportunity to upload videos of his own.

Troye's first clip went up in 2007. Using a webcam and doing a direct upload, Troye's videos garnered international attention and thousands of views.

But it was an unfortunate event at a performance in Los Angeles that saw Troye's singing career stall momentarily.

He had already built up a reputation around town as a boy soprano with the voice of an angel.

As more and more people saw the videos of Troye singing on YouTube, he bagan receiving invites to perform at synagogues in Australia as well as in America(cool fact, Troye and his family are Jewish).

One performance in Los Angeles was about to change things for the young Troye - for a few years at least.

After landing in the City of Angels, Troye was midway through a Declan Galbraith cover when he accidently switched a verse around, which completely threw him.

"I was pretty scared," Troye told the Sydney Morning Herald. To make matters worse his voice was starting to break.

After this incident Troye decided he never to sing again, and the career he'd been working towards was left to fade away.

He decided at that moment that singing would only be something personal to him - something that he'd do when no one else was around.

As ever-supportive parents, Shaun and Laurelle let Troye make up his own mind and allowed him to step away from singing for almost three whole years.

It was around this time that Troye discovered a passion for the big screen.

In 2008, Troye was cast in a local short film, betrand the Terrible, before he landed a dream fole in a major Hollywood motion picture.

After a talent manager stumbled across some of his earlier YouTube videos, he was encouraged to audition for his first big Hollywood blockbuster: X-Men Origins:Wolverine.

在一位天才经纪人偶然发现了戳鹅早年发在YouTube的视频，他被鼓励去试镜他的第一部好莱坞大片:《x战警前传：金刚狼》（之后12年也因此来华，出现在了天天向上节目上）

Troye not only nailed the audition(well,duh) but also got to portray a young James Howlett - aka The Wolverine(played as an adult by another home-grown talent, Hugh Jackman).

戳鹅不仅成功通过了试镜还扮演了小James Howlett的角色 - 也就是金刚狼(成年后由另一位本土演员Hugh Jackman扮演)

Talk about a stellar first role! After this, the on-screen parts came flooding in and Troye's mother decided to let him bid farewell to his traditional education at the Carmel School in Perth to start home schooling(yet another reason why they're all so close).

这是戳鹅出演的第一个明星角色！在此之后，很多荧幕的角色如涌而至，戳妈决定让戳鹅离开他在波斯受传统教育的学校并开始在家学习（这也是为什么戳妈和戳无比亲近的原因！戳妈把握住机会，化身戳鹅的经纪人，为演员戳打call！）

This was something Troye is still grateful for, as he particularly disliked school.

He has since admitted his best memory of being at school was the day he got to leave.

The next project Troye tackled was the film Spud() - a movie based on the bool of the same name by the South African writer John van de Ruit.

下一个要出演的项目是电影Spud（我的心头肉啊！！下次再补一遍！！！有3部，可以看到小小戳和年轻的戳鹅。电影名字的意思就是，emmmm【你那里就跟个小土豆一样】）- 一部根据南非作家John van de Ruit的同名小说改编的电影。【p43是Troye在Spud的剧照】

This time, Troye got to head back to his home country of South Africa to star alongside the legendary John Cleese, as John 'Spud' Milton.

这时候，戳鹅回到了他的故乡南非与传奇人物John Cleese一起出演（剧中饰演一名很关键的角色），出演John Milton（外号Spud）。【p45就是John Cleese和Troye的剧照】

Since 2010, the popular film franchise has gone on to become a trilogy, with Troye starring in every movies.

2010年后，这部广受欢迎的电影开始拍成了三部曲，而且每一部都是戳鹅饰演主角。

If that wasn't enough, 2010 saw Troye land a prestigious role in the famous Samuel Beckeet play Waiting for Godot, starring on stage opposite Sir lan McKellen.

如果这还不够的话！2010年可以看到戳鹅在Samuel Beckeet的著名戏剧《等待戈多》中饰演了一个极具声望的角色，与Sir lan McKellen同台演出。

He shared the role of "Boy" with fellow young actor Craig Hyde-Smith. Now that's pretty darn epic!

他与年轻演员Craig Hyde-Smith共同出演了“男孩”一角。这简直是史诗!（15岁的戳啊！平步青云，也太优秀了吧！）

Although Troye had already been making a name for himself in the film and music scene, it wasn't till he began posting vlogs about his life to YouTube in late 2012 that things really started to ramp up.

尽管戳鹅已经靠自己立足于音乐界和影视界，直到2012年底戳鹅开始在YouTube上放出他生活的视频，一切才真正的好起来了。

Inspired by fellow South African YouTube sensation Caspar Lee, Troye threw himself into his recordings, updating his channal almost every single day.

受来自南非的Youtube红人Caspar Lee的鼓励（大菠萝！戳鹅的好朋友，一起拍过几次vlog，跟戳鹅一起出演了Spud3），戳鹅全身心的投入到他的录制中，几乎天天更新他的频道。

With the use of a digital SLR and his trusty iPhone, Troye learnt how to edit videos using Adobe Premiere.

通过使用数码单反相机和他可靠的iPhone, Troye学会了如何使用Adobe Premiere编辑视频。

This gave his YouTube clips a touch of class and a professional quality.

这让他的YouTube视频更有格调，更专业了。

Well...as much class as you can get when you're talking about "What Underwear Do You Wear?" Troye's hyper vibe was just what his audience were looking for.

Troye knew how to build a loyal following that would hang onto his every word. And hang on they did.

Within months, it was clear Troye's ambition was being fully realised, as the number of followers grew each day.

At the time of publishing, Troye's subscribers on YouTube were sitting at more than 4 million and there were in excess of 213 million views across his channel.

Anything but an overnight celebrity, Troye managed to navigate the online space to create an intimate relationship with his fans.

Starting off small, Troye began cultivating his following by being himself and opening up about where he was from, what his likes and dislikes were as well as anything else that popped into his head.

Hallelujah! In 2013, Troye composed, produced and uploaded his very own song for the hit flick The Fault in Our Stars(you know, that super sad movie based on the John Green book that left us all devo and searching for the tissues?).

It was his way of stepping back into the music scene while also dealing with all the feels from the book!

Proving once again what a wonderful person he is, Troye donated all the proceeds from that track to Perth's Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation.

再次证明了戳鹅是个多么优秀的人，戳鹅将该歌曲的所有收益都捐赠给了珀斯玛格丽特公主医院基金会。

This good deed saw John Green himself tweet about the song, which led to EMI getting in contact with Troye and offering him a lucrative recording contract. Score!

这一善举让John Green本人在推特上发表了对这首歌的看法，这也让EMI（百代唱片公司）与戳鹅取得联系并给他一份丰厚的唱片合同。很酷！！（后续会讲到！！戳鹅出这首歌18岁！因为这一善举收到了EMI的青睐！也是在18岁签约唱片公司！）

While Troye's vlogging has been a monumental part of his rise to fame, he has admitted that singing and working on his music is where he wants to be right now.

虽然戳鹅的博客已经成为了他成名路上不朽的一部分，但他承认唱歌和做音乐是他现在想做的事。（歌手戳已成为群主！）

As much as we miss some of the old clips, Troye's singing voice makes everything better.
