有的时候我们会收到老师关于我们写作的内容的反馈，像是“your essay is too descriptive你的内容描述性太强”或者是“you need to show more critical analysis 你需要展示出更多的批判性分析”等。
虽然有些描述信息可能是必须的——例如你提供相关的背景信息——但大多数的学术作业要求你写出分析性和批判性强的内容。
你的导师想知道“你”是怎么想的
你的写作需要展示你对证据和参考文献的解释，你是如何用那些信息证明你的论点，以及你在这个主题上的后续立场。在你的写作中持批评态度意味着参与到你的课题领域的学术辩论以及研究当中。
你选择的资料来源，展示他们是如何同意或者不同意其他证据的方式，以及构造你的论点的方式都将体现你的思维过程和你对读到的信息的理解。
利用证据来加强你的地位
试着预测你的读者会问什么样的问题。你可以用证据来帮助你巩固自己的立场，回答读者的问题，并“中和”相反的观点。
记住尽量少用描述性语句——不需要提供大量的背景或历史信息。
确保你从描述转到分析和评估——给出你对事实的解释，解释你所做的陈述的意义、结果和影响。
