Besides being beautiful, coral reefs also have a very important job – they provide homes for many ocean creatures. Lots of fish, crabs, sea stars, and other marine animals live in coral reefs. So, you can think of coral reefs as a big family with all kinds of neighbors.

Why do we need to protect corals? Because they are very important for our Earth and the ocean creatures.

First, corals help keep the ocean's ecosystem balanced. They provide food and homes for many fish and other creatures to live.

Second, corals are also very helpful in protecting against storms and big waves. They act like a protective wall for the coastline, keeping it safe from storms.

However, sadly, there are some problems threatening corals. Climate change, pollution, and overfishing are some of the threats to corals.

Climate change makes the ocean water hotter, and that's not good for corals because they need warm but not too hot water.
