    1. adj. 潜力,having the capacity to develop into something in the future.

    2. 不可数名词 ,可能性;潜在性 If you say that someone or something has potential for doing a particular thing, you mean that it is possible they may do it. If there is the potential for something, it may happen.√

Old age is neither inherently miserable nor inherently sublime — like every stage of life it has problems,joys, fears and potentials.

老年既不是一成不变的悲哀,也不是一成不变的美好 - 就像人的每一个阶段一样,都有它的问题,欢乐,担忧,可能性。
