I am deeply afraid that I am originally not a find jade that can be cultivated to be a talent. Therefore I dare not temper and steel myself assiduously.

我深怕自己本非美玉，故而不敢加以刻苦琢磨，

But I also half believe and half doubt that I may be a find jade. So I don’t want to be a mediocre person, and nor do I want to associate with a motley crowd which are like disorderly and useless debris.

却又半信自己是块美玉，故又不肯庸庸碌碌，与瓦砾为伍。
