As intuitively depicted in the figure above, over the past decade, the total size of green apace in China has almost doubled within ten years’ time.
Urbanization in China has been on a fast speed over the years since we crossed into the 21st Century, behind the growth of the number is the raising awareness of the environment and our devotion to making cities a better place to live in. As we all know, the development of city zones is one of the key indicators of a country’s economy. Cities, especially metropolises, are places for people to find their fortune as well as their foothold. Therefore, people-centered and eco-friendly urban planning plays a core role in city wellness.
In the past, there was a heated topic on “whether cities should develop at the price of the environment”, and today the answer is here for everyone. There are always creative and innovative ways to make cities better places for human existence and economic development. Newly and creatively-designed buildings with green plants covered, public parks taking advantage of natural resources and streets renovated under eco-friendliness have found a way balancing urban development and environmental protection.
2021 is the launching year of our “14th 5-year plan”, also the implementation on the environmental strategies of “carbon-neutrality” and “carbon emission peak”, with more green space in cities, we are one step closer to achieving these goals. Under the banner of “Lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets,” our government is on the right track and will be unswervingly implementing these policies for a friendlier, safer and healthier shared future for the whole nation and even, the entire human society.

中国的城市化在我们跨入21世纪之后变得十分迅速，这些增长的背后，是人们对于和环境的意识的稳步提高，同时还有我们让城市更加宜居而做出的投入。我们都知道，城市的发展是国家关键的经济指标之一。尤其是大城市，是人们实现梦想和寻找归宿的地方。因此，以人为本，环境友好的城市规划在城市的幸福指数上扮演着核心的作用。
过去，我们热议：“城市的发展，是否应该以环境为代价？”今天，答案就在每个人的眼前。总有新奇的方法让城市更加符合人类的生存和经济的发展。绿植环绕下创新设计的楼宇，利用自然优势开发的公园，以及在环境友好为前提下新规划的城市街道，都为城市发展和环境保护寻找到了平衡点。
2021年是“第十四个五年计划”征程的元年，也是“碳中和”和“碳达峰”环境政策的实施之年。随着城市绿色面积越来越广，我们距离这些目标更近了一步。在“绿水青山就是金山银山”的口号下，我们的政府正坚持在正确的道路上，并将为了构建更友好、更安全、更健康的国家共同体，乃至人类命运共同体而坚定不移地实施这些政策。
