English Idioms 英文成语

#1 - a dime a dozen:太常见;太普通;没有价值了;

英文解释:a dime a dozen = so common that it's worthless)A dime is a coin that's worth ten cents. This word is used in the United States. A dozen is a word that means 12 items. If you can buy 12 items for 10 cents, then the item isn't very valuable. So a dime a dozen means that something is so common that it's worthless. This idiom does not actually refer to the real cost of the item. Instead, it means the item is so common that it has little to no value.:(一毛钱一打 = 太常见了不值钱了)一毛钱硬币是价值十美分的硬币这个词在美国使用。一打的意思是12个东西。如果你能用10美分买12件东西,那么这个东西就不是很值钱。所以一毛钱一打的意思是某样东西太普通了,不值钱了。这个表达用法实际上并不是指物品的实际成本。相反,它意味着这个东西太常见太普通了,几乎没有价值。

例句:Smartphone apps are a dime a dozen nowadays, but you could count the ones that are truly useful on one hand. 如今,智能手机应用程序太常见了,但真正有用的应用程序却屈指可数。

#2 - the most bang for your buck:最物有所值;

英文解释:(The most bang for your buck = the most value for your money)The word buck is a slang word for dollar, and bang is a word used to describe an explosion. If you buy a bomb that gives you the most bang (the biggest explosion) for your buck (the lowest price), then you've gotten the most value for your money. (The most bang for your buck = 太普通太常见了,不值钱了)buck这个词是美元的俚语,而bang是用来形容爆炸的词。如果你买了一颗炸弹,它给你的钱(最低的价格)带来了最大的冲击(最大的爆炸),那么你的钱就得到了最大的价值。

例句:Although this laptop isn't the most modern one on the market, it gives youthe most bang for your buck in terms of memory and computing power. 虽然这台笔记本电脑不是市场上最先进的,但它在内存和计算能力方面是最物有所值的

#3 - my two cents:我的观点;我的看法;

英文解释:my two cents = my opinion)This idiom might come from the expression "a penny for your thoughts." A penny is one cent, and this expression is used to ask for someone's opinion. So if you give two cents, it means you give your opinion.我的两分钱 = 我的看法)这个成语可能来源于“一分钱买你的想法。” 一分钱一分货,这个表达是用来征求别人的意见的。所以如果你给两分钱,就意味着你给出了你的意见。

例句:I recommend saving up at least 12 months of living expenses before you quit your job. That's my two cents, anyway:我建议你在辞职之前,至少存下12个月的生活费。不管怎么说这是我的观点

#4 - in mint condition:完美无瑕;完好无损;

英文解释:(in mint condition = perfect; without flaws)The mint is the place where money is made (printed or manufactured). A coin or bill that comes directly from the mint is perfect, because it is new! So if any item is in mint condition, it means it's perfect, without flaws. in mint condition = 完美的;无瑕疵的)造币厂是制造(印刷或制造)货币的地方。直接从造钱厂出来的硬币或钞票是完美的,因为它是新的!所以,如果任何一件东西处于造钱厂的状态,那就意味着它是完美的,没有瑕疵。

例句:He sold a comic book from 1975 for $5000. Not only was it a rare edition, but it was also in mint condition. 他把1975年的一本漫画书卖了5000美元。这不仅是一个罕见的版本,而且它完美无瑕
