Every man dreams of having a good car. With luxury cars, like Bentley, Lamborghini and Rolls-Royce, going into the world of SUVs, if you have deep pockets, you will be spoilt for choice.
Lamborghini Aventador SVJ
Using a new aerodynamic system allows it to set a car lap record of 6: 44 97 at Nurburgring, one of the longest and most challenging circuits in the world. Plus, carbon fiber can be seen everywhere, which makes the car strong and lightweight. There’re only 900 being built and you’11need to cough up $517, 770 to buy one.
Aston Martin DBX
The DBX is Aston Martin’s maiden SUV product. It features a choice of two gas engines—a 4.0-liter V8 from Mercedes and a 5.2-liter V12 from its own. The price is predicted to be around $250, 000.
Audi E-tron
Being an eco-friendly motoring. it is an all-electric SUV that makes up for its rather ordinary appearance with design, luxury and technology. At the front and back are electric motors which insure progress is rapid. In addition to plenty of storage space, the Audi E-tron provides side cameras instead of side mirrors and air suspension that adapts to the terrain (地形). Hand over $74, 800 and it’s yours.
Tesla Roadster
Tesla Roadster will turn most heads, zero to 60 in 1.9 seconds means it will leave most cars for dust. The top speed is 250 mph, which is also unheard of for most cars—let alone an a11-electric one. Having advanced autonomous driving systems and a huge touchscreen for surfing the Internet, it won’t make you regret for paying $200, 000.

Let’s dive straight in, shall we. You’ve all noted from the pictures that this week I’m reviewing the Ferrari Roma, which is the cheapest Ferrari of them all, so I’m guessing you don’t want a five-hundred-word treatise on the origins of, say, trifle, followed by a sudden dogleg and then a few words on the car. Right. Happy to oblige.
I took it over to see my friend Eric, who has owned many great Ferraris in the past. He knows the brand well. He knows the appeal. He also knows his cars — this is the man who produced the film Rush. So he climbed in, took one look at the digital dash and the complicated steering wheel, and then leapt straight out saying: “They’ve lost the plot.”
There’s more. Ferrari is saying that the Roma is 70 per cent new, but people with adenoids and way too much time on their hands have worked out that it has exactly the same wheelbase as the unloved Portofino, so they’re saying that while 70 per cent of the components may be new, the basic architecture of the car, and its engine, is not new at all. Others are suggesting that it was supposed to have been a Maserati but Fiat changed its mind at the last minute and stuck a prancing horse on the back.
Everyone else I talked to, including one guy who’s actually ordered one, said it looked very like an Aston Martin. It doesn’t. It does, however, look extremely similar to an F-type Jaguar, which costs £100,000 less.
In short, then, the Roma doesn’t have much appeal to the mega Ferrari fans, it may not be what it says it is, and it isn’t what you’d call good value.
24. What is the car in question?
A. Jaguar F-Type. B. Ferrari Portofino.
C. Maserati. D. Ferrari Roma.
25. What is Eric’s attitude towards the Roma?
A. He thinks Ferrari is mad. B. He likes it.
C. He can’t find the car. D. He hates the plot.
26. What does the author think the Roma is similar to?
A. £100,000. B. Aston Martin.
C. Jaguar F-Type. D. Fiat.
27. Which is WRONG according to the passage?
A. Eric produced the film Rush. B. The author has talked with some buyers.
C. Roma is 70% the same as a Maserati. D. Roma is not attractive to huge Ferrari fans.

Mercedes reserve driver Nyck de Vries will make his Formula 1 race weekend debut when he carries out driving duties for Williams in first practice for the Spanish Grand Prix.
The 27-year-old Dutchman – who is the reigning Formula E world champion – will borrow Alex Albon’s FW44 for the 60-minute session at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
De Vries shares the Mercedes reserve role with Stoffel Vandoorne and has previously tested F1 machinery when he drove the Silver Arrows in last year’s post-season Abu Dhabi Grand Prix test.
His appearance for Williams fulfils one of the British team’s two mandated young driver sessions, which is a new rule introduced for this season.
Williams say De Vries will “aid the team’s preparation work ahead of qualifying and the Grand Prix”.
“We are looking forward to having Nyck de Vries in the car for FP1 as it is always good to work with a new driver and get a fresh opinion on the car's strengths and weaknesses,” said Head of Vehicle Performance Dave Robson.
“Nyck's experience and professionalism will be crucial on Friday as he will complete some of the key engineering tests in FP1 before he hands the car back to Alex for FP2.”
Sporting Director Sven Smeets added: “I’m looking forward to seeing Nyck join the team for FP1 at the Spanish Grand Prix. As he is a very talented and experienced driver I have no doubt that he’ll maximise his time in the FW44 and deliver a strong, capable performance for the team.”
De Vries said: “Firstly, I’d really like to thank Williams for the opportunity to run in FP1. It’s great for me to get to know the team and drive the FW44, and also to get myself out on track during a Formula 1 weekend.
“Preparation for the test is going well so far and the team have been incredibly supportive of me. I’m very much looking forward to the whole experience in Spain now.”
First practice for the Spanish Grand Prix takes place at 1400 local time on Friday. You can follow all the action here.

Before you ask, I don’t know why Amazon chose not to show The Grand Tour’s Madagascar special until now. Was it a mistake? Unlikely. You don’t look at the giant Amazon corporation and think: “Well, that’s just a jumble of ill-conceived ideas and wonky thinking.” So doubtless there was a good reason. Maybe a computer coronavirus algorithm worked out that mid-December was the optimum time for a show of this kind.
Whatever, it’s my job now to give you a behind-the-scenes taste of what happened on what turned out to be our toughest trip yet. It was so tough, in fact, that for the first time one of our cars did not make it to journey’s end. Whose? Er. We filmed it so long ago, I can’t remember.
We began on the beach and were told that we had to waste the next week of our lives looking for buried pirate treasure. Hammond and James May liked this idea and visiting the grave of the pirate La Buse. I didn’t. I don’t find them interesting. They are just aquatic burglars. Or wife-beaters. But I was very interested in where this quest would take us: Madagascar.
We had to get up its east coast, in search of this stupid non-existent treasure, along the RN5, which is said to be the worst road in the world. So I decided to make a few changes to the Bentley Continental GT I’d brought along. Completely new long-travel suspension; armour-plated undersides; rerouted fuel lines; new brakes to fit in the smaller wheels; motorcycle headlamps, to make way under the bonnet for snorkels; and an external roll cage. Inside it was as comfortable as sitting on Bob Ross’s hair. But from the outside I’d made a Mad Max special effect.
I fell so deeply in love with that car and its hardcore determination to keep going that I decided I’d bring it back to the farm as a permanent reminder that when Bentley decided to make a serious off-roader, it ought to have done what I did. Not built the Bentayga.
It took a while but, eventually, the Bentley arrived back in Britain, and I was very happy. It was, too, because there’s nothing in the Cotswolds that’s even a tenth as difficult as what it had conquered on Madagascar. In one field we hit 140mph.
But then came word from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency. The Bentley had started in life as a development mule(试验车), and the rules say these must be destroyed to ensure they don’t ever seep onto the market. So, one day soon now, my beloved car — the best and hardiest I’ve ever driven—is going to the crusher.
I shall be very sad, but, at least in our show, its star burns very brightly indeed. I challenge you not to fall in love with it too.

A. Two of their cars failed to complete the journey. B. It is published by Amazon.
C. They began in Madagascar. D. The roads in Madagascar are nice.
33. What is the mission given in the show?
A. Look for pirate treasure. B. Test the new Bentley.
C. Build a Bentayga. D. Attract tourists to Madagascar.
34. What changes did the author apply to the Bentley?
A. The RN5. B. Bob Ross’s hair.
C. An external roll cage. D. A crusher.
35. Which title suits this passage best?
A. Behind the Scenes of The Grand Tour Special
B. Who Needs a Bentayga?
C. Bentley Continental GT: the Best Car in the World
D. Madagascar: an Unforgettable Grand Tour

5 storylines we’re excited about ahead of the 2022 Canadian GP
Another back-to-back comes to a close with a long-awaited return to a popular venue for the Canadian Grand Prix. As the paddock returns to the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve for the first time since 2019, we take a look at some of the major talking points likely to be doing the rounds in Montreal.
1. Ferrari’s response
It was a painful day for Ferrari in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, as both cars retired due to technical issues. 36 .For one, Leclerc had a good chance of winning all of the past three races, with the two retirements sandwiching a strategic misstep from Ferrari in Monaco. There’s also his qualifying record, often giving himself the best chance on a Sunday if the car runs smoothly.
2. 37
Pierre Gasly had his strongest result of 2022 by far with a fifth place behind the Red Bull and Mercedes drivers in Baku. Speaking freely about what he will do in 2023 ahead of the race in Baku, the Frenchman suggested he is still set to be part of the Red Bull family next year, but will discuss with Helmut Marko.
When it comes to other teams, Alpine reserve Oscar Piastri has been linked with a move to Williams next year in a switch that could call into question Nicholas Latifi’s seat, and it’s a topic that may well come up for the Canadian as he finally gets to take part in his first home Grand Prix, having made his debut in the Covid-hit 2020 season.
3. The Alpine rocket
One of the interesting aspects of Sunday’s race in Azerbaijan was in the midfield, where a number of drivers found their attempts to climb into the points thwarted(被阻挠)by an Alpine. That’s because both Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon had extremely impressive straight-line speed that allowed them to keep any attacks at bay, with even the impact of the DRS not being enough to allow another driver to attack on a number of occasions.
38 . Could it be that Alpine are once again holding an advantage on the straights, and could it be even bigger this weekend?
4. 39
While Leclerc and Ferrari had to deal with the emotional pain of another DNF last weekend, Lewis Hamilton was facing physical pain in his Mercedes as he struggled with bouncing in Baku.
Whether it is the porpoising phenomenon – when a car rises and falls in rhythm as the amount of downforce peaks – or just the level of bottoming out that the car is doing over bumps, it’s clearly an uncomfortable ride for the Mercedes drivers at the moment.
Canada’s long straights towards the end of the lap could lead to similar issues this weekend, where we’re likely to get further examples of drivers facing a physical challenge.
5. The return to Montreal
That’s right, the last time we were racing at the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve was in 2019. Since then, Covid-19 has meant it hasn’t been possible to hold the Canadian Grand Prix in each of the past two years, but we’re heading back with a bang, as a full house is expected in Montreal this weekend.
With overtaking possible into Turn 1, the hairpin and most of all the final chicane – in front of a passionate and knowledgeable crowd who always create a great atmosphere whenever F1 is in town. 40 .
A. Driver market warming up
B. The hard-to-deal-with porpoising
C. Mercedes looking to dial out porpoising
D. But things would turn better for them in Canada.
E. It’s going to be good to be back
F. And so we head to Canada, where lower downforce set-ups tend to be the way to go in order to allow good top speed, particularly on the run to the final chicane and pit straight
G. But Ferrari have an instant opportunity to bounce back this weekend in Montreal, and there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic
