The series depicts the 54-year story of Liu Che (刘彻), “汉武帝”, the 4th emperor of Han dynasty, who in time managed to end the awkward national dilemma between the Dukes of ever-growing ambitions inside the country, and the Huns casting their covetous eyes from outside, basing on the combination of his great calibre and the advantages created by his predecessors. By then, the country of Han finally accomplished its consolidation as a unified nation in every sense of the word, just like the one of Qin.
