《Mind Your Language》讲解分析

       剧情介绍：这一集主要讲的是教育局派了督察来学校检查，新来的督察却被Brown老师误以为是新来的学生，并且当着他的面大肆吐槽了一番教育局。而知道这位新来的“学生”就是督察后，Brown老师又会作何选择呢？

有退学的意思，除了这个意思外，还有拒绝接受传统规范、离经叛道者之意。

the standards of the evening classes are up to par.

up to par意思是合格的，达到标准的，而其反义词是below par不符合标准的。除了这几个词语外，par还有其他词语：

1. on a par with与。。。。。同样；与。。。。。相似，举例：

Parts of Glasgow are on a par with the worst areas of London  and Liverpool for burglaries.

b.par of the course在意料之中，举例：

It's the par of the course that he could get good grade.

get your particulars later.

particulars 复数名词，表细节、详情之意。其名词形式就是我们熟悉的particular，特别的、特殊的意思。

cosset v.意思是宠爱；溺爱和娇惯这里指的是要迎合督察

get into hot water是一句俗语，有蹚浑水之意。老师说的这句话是“我不想蹚浑水”或者是“我不想惹麻烦”

fogy指的是守旧者，抱残守缺的人

catch sb. out意思是使。。。。。原形毕露，抓住。。。。的把柄。

thick as a brush

thick这里是愚蠢的、傻的意思，非正式用语。

poke one's nose in意思是打探某人，打听某人的消息

drop a clanger意思是失言，clanger的意思是失言。
