Fluorescin（Solvent Yellow 94）荧光标记应用广，为黄色结晶，吸收光波长为490~495nm，发射光波长520~530nm，可呈现明亮的黄绿色荧光。FITC有两种异构体：异构体I, 即 5-异硫氰酸荧光素或5-FITC异构体II,即6-异硫氰酸荧光素或6-FITC
异硫氰酸荧光素通常是由其中一种异构体或者有时是两种异构体的混合物构成。早在1942年，FITC
常作为荧光探针应用于制备分子生物学或糖类聚合物的结合物分子，FITC常用作蛋白质或多糖的不同底物的标记试剂，以及标记抗体（IgG）以及其它免疫应用。
