SHAW: TEN HAG HAS TAKEN ME TO ANOTHER LEVEL

Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw credits manager Erik ten Hag for taking him to a 'new level'.

The Reds defender was asked about Erik during his press conference on Sunday, prior to England's Euro 2024 qualifier against North Macedonia on Monday (19:45 BST).

The media briefing took place shortly after the Three Lions had concluded their training session at United's Carrington complex.

Shaw, who started England's 4-0 triumph in Malta on Friday, was asked about his form for the Reds in 2022/23, and whether he was playing the best football of his career.

"I think I've been settled [at United] for a quite a long time," he replied. "Of course, this season, the manager has definitely helped me.

"I think he's taken me on to a new level. He is pushing me every day and that's what I need and what I want. I want to keep on improving and keep getting better, as I still think I can and get to a higher level.

With the transfer window having opened last week, the Reds have, as always, been linked with a number of summer arrivals.

When asked if he has been speaking to his England colleagues about whether their futures could lie at Old Trafford, Luke provided a light response.

"There's a few!" he joked.

"It's all just a bit of banter really. We have a laugh and a joke about it. [I'm] not too sure what goes on behind the scenes to do with the club but, of course, when we are here and we are always together, we have a joke about it."

The match against North Macedonia will bring the campaign to an end which, for a lot of players, has been a very long one.

Despite this, Shaw's motivation is strong to end on it a high and then take a break before it al begins again in pre-season.

"It's very tough but I think, for me, at the end of the day, it's our job," he said.
