原句：Some of their base camps were far larger (over 1,000 square meters) than any of those belonging to earlier periods, and they may have lived in some of these camps for half the year or even more.

对于这个句子的分析，首先，这是由并列连词and并列的前后两个句子：

and

前面这个句子，从句型的角度来讲，这是一个主系表句型，

主语：Some of their base camps

系动词：were

表语：far larger (over 1,000 square meters)

句子中的than，从词类划分的角度来讲，这是一个并列连词，相当于and，只不过语义不同而已，在这个句子中，并列连词than并列的是句子的两个主语，也就是

从结构的角度来讲，完全相当于
