Men do not easily cry
妻子的不辞而别，完全出乎周兴和的意料。
Zhou Xinghe was completely surprised when his wife left without saying goodbye.
周兴和的发明项目在省里中标后，他和他的企业知名度陡然大增。金牛区在城市规划中，将他们企业所在地，正式以企业的名字命名为“星河街”。为扩大生产，修建生产车间，工厂征用了当地4.3亩土地。正当他在为征用土地的事日夜奔波，支付了第一笔征地款后，他发现妻子带着儿子和她的衣物，离家不知去向！

打她的手机，手机连续1个多月关机；到处找人，找遍了她能够去的地方，可根本寻不见她的踪影；他多次到岳父母家去问小申下落，岳父母不但不叫女儿与他见面，反而向周兴和要人：“我女儿嫁给你，你就要对她负责！我们没来找你要人，你却找上门来了！告诉你，她有个三长两短，我们就跟你没完！”

周兴和不想和他们争辩，更不想和他们吵架，他只好悻悻地选择离开。

难道，她真的从人间蒸发了么？难道，这些年患难与共的夫妻感情，就只值这几十万块钱么？难道，她和她的家人目光真的就这么短浅，见钱就眼开么？难道，夫妻之间发生了一些意见和分歧，就不能平心静气坐下来交流交谈，只能用这种极端的方式来解决么？这些年，虽然自己一门心思推广项目，想尽快做强做大自己的事业，但绝对没有外心，个人的感情是全部都倾注在妻子身上的啊！……

周兴和冷静下来后，也在不停地反省自己：为什么在和妻子度过最艰难的时期后，妻子反而会和自己离心离德呢？为什么经济条件稍稍好转，家庭反而会造成目前这种濒临破裂的状况呢？这些日子来，自己是不是真有大男子主义思想，对家里的事管得不多，对妻子的理解关心不够，和妻子在思想感情上交流沟通太少？在教育她儿子的方式方法上，是不是简单严厉了些？在经济问题上，是否对两人的子女真有偏心的地方？……

“你别看老周在其它方面能干，在生活上其实是个弱智。”时隔10多年，笔者在采访小申时，她对周兴和的评价很客观，“他的心思，全都在了他的事业上；他的精力，也全都用在了他发明创造里，确实可以说是废寝忘食；就连叫他回家吃饭，有时也要用骗的方式叫他回家；回到家，连味精和盐都不一定分得清——要说我和他的矛盾，不在我们的感情上，而主要还是在生活中。”

天已经完全黑了。周兴和心里许许多多的疑问，像一团乱麻，理不出个头绪。最后他把所有的矛盾和怨恨集中在一个字上：钱！对这个问题，古人曾有过精辟的总结，人为财死，鸟为食亡！面对钱财，世上有几个人能抱着淡定豁达的态度啊！在这个淡薄人情而青睐功利的社会里，周兴和曾反复诘问自己：钱这个东西，它到底是福星还是灾祸，是天使还是魔鬼？！

To this problem, the ancients once had incisive summary: the man dies in pursuit of wealth, the bird dies in pursuit of food! In this utilitarian society, Zhou Xinghe had repeatedly asked himself: the money is a blessing or a disaster, is an angel or a devil?!
夜色蒙蒙，冷风萧瑟。怎么办呢？此时，周兴和感到莫大的委屈、孤独和寂寞。不知怎么的，这个连坐牢都不曾眨眼的汉子，也禁不住眼里潮湿，继而感到自己眼角边有些冰凉起来。

“是的，我离过几次婚，在旁人看来，我对待婚姻的态度是不是有些不严肃。其实，这对我是极大的误解。我是从苦难中走过来的，人生中得到的每一样东西都很不容易，所以对所得到的东西是非常珍惜的。我非常珍惜自己的家庭，珍惜夫妻之间的感情。”周兴和表情凝重地对笔者讲道，“每当婚姻出现危机时，我都感到莫大的痛苦，甚至伤心，都想竭力挽救；每离一次婚，我都会找个没有人的地方，伤心大哭一场……我常常在问，难道，这就是我的命？”

经过无数个夜晚的反省和考虑，周兴和决定还是要竭力去挽回他与小申这段感情，挽回自己这来之不易的婚姻。
After countless nights of self-questioning and consideration, Zhou Xinghe decided to try his best to save his relationship with Shen, and save their hard-won marriage.
不知什么时候，他感到自己实在太饿了，爬了起来，烧了一壶水，泡了一包方便面。他一边吃，一边拿定了主意：事到如今，已顾不得什么脸面了，天一亮，就到报社去登个“寻人启事”，妻子看见报纸，总不能再不露面了吧？
At some point, he felt that he was too hungry, so he got up, burned a pot of water, and made some instant noodles. 当天夜里，周兴和做了个梦。他梦见很久很久以前，有两个很穷很穷的兄弟，善良的凤凰神同情他们的境遇，把两兄弟驮到了太阳山上，那里有数不清的金银财宝。老二只在那里拿了一块金子，他想只要有这块金子，我一辈子就饿不死了；而老大却眼花缭乱心花怒放了，他装了几口袋的金银财宝，连背也背不动了。凤凰几次催促他说：太阳快要回来了，你赶快走吧！可老大总是不走，还在不停地往口袋里装着金子。最后，太阳回来了，老大被太阳烧死了，连一块金子也没得到……
That night, Zhou Xinghe had a dream. He dreamed that long, long ago, there were two brothers who were very poor. The good Phoenix God sympathized with their situation and carried them to the Sun Mountain, where there were countless treasures of gold and silver. The younger brother just took one piece of gold, which he thought was enough to keep him alive; the older brother, however, was so dazzled and elated that he filled several sacks of gold and silver that he could not even carry at all. The Phoenix urged him several times and said: The Sun is coming back, and you should go now! But the older brother did not go away, and kept filling his sacks with gold. At last, the Sun came back, and the older brother was burnt to death, and did not get a single piece of gold...
周兴和醒来，再也睡不着了。梦中的情景不断在他脑海里闪现。最后他终于明白过来，这哪里是在做梦，而是他小时候学过的一篇课文呀！莫名其妙，今天怎么会跑到自己梦境中来了呢？
Zhou Xinghe woke up and could not sleep again. Scenes in the dream kept running through his mind. At last, he came to realize that it was not a dream but a text he had learned when he was a child. He didn't know why it came to his dream today.
1999年4月9日，《四川日报》上登出了一则“寻人启事”，要寻的人就是周兴和的妻子——小申。
On April 9, 1999, a notice for "missing person" appeared in the Sichuan Daily, asking for Zhou Xinghe's wife, Shen.
“怎么，周兴和的妻子失踪了？”认识周兴和的人看见报纸，都惊讶地相互打听，“他怎么不到公安机关去报案哪？”

周兴和只好摇摇头，苦笑了一下，谢绝了朋友们的好心，他什么都没说——这样的事，三言两语是能说得清的么！

2021年9月5日，《廉政内参》第4期第38页“人民心声”栏目刊登标题“我国建筑和建材领域一场颠覆性的革命”，其中第三节（第42页）小标题“愿星河新型材料的伟大发明得到国家大力推广，造福人类”的第七行摘要：“在当今中国，利用自己研发的高新科技成果走向世界的有两个人和两个项目：一个是袁隆平先生和他的杂交水稻，正在解决人们的吃饭问题；一个是周兴和先生和他的秸秆建材，正在解决人们的住房问题”。合乎科技兴国的伟大战略。
