辽宁号航空母舰（PLA Navy Liaoning）是中国第一艘服役的航空母舰（aircraft carrier），全长300多米，宽70多米，满载排水量（displacement）6万余吨，其前身是苏联海军的瓦良格号（Varyag），2005年开始由中国海军继续建造改进，并于2012年9月25日，正式更名辽宁号，交付予中国人民解放军海军，舷号（hull number）为“16”。辽宁舰交接入列，是海军建设发展的一个重要成果，标志着中国实现了航母‘零的突破’，向着海洋强国的目标迈出了重要一步。它还将拉动我国国防工业、造船业等领域的发展，对我国经济发展、科技实力提升、国防实力增强有深远意义。

PLA Navy Liaoning is China's first-ever aircraft carrier put to service, with a full length over 300 meters and width over 70 meters, full-load displacement over 60,000 tonnes. PLA Navy Liaoning comes from the USSR Navy aircraft carrier Varyag, which was handed over to Chinese PLA Navy for further building and renewal then delivered to service, officially renamed as Liaoning on September, 2, 2012 with hull number 16. With the enlistment of Liaoning, Chinese PLA Navy takes a milestone step in its construction and development, marking it a zero breakthrough in the number of aircraft carriers and a firm step for the goals of strengthening our country through maritime defense. In addition, Liaoning will also lead the development of our national defense and navigation industries, bringing a far-reaching influence on our country’s economic development, technical advancement and national defense enhancement.
