Mal-PEG-COOH是一种含活性马来酰亚胺基和羧基的杂化双功能聚乙二醇交联剂。马来酰亚胺在pH 6.5～7.5范围内易与硫醇基反应，形成稳定的硫醚键，常常被用于和蛋白上的巯基偶联以实现对蛋白的位点选择性修饰。羧基与氨基生成稳定的酰胺键，也可以和羟基发生酯化反应。PEG交联马来酰亚胺具有良好的水溶性，使用方便。

Mal-PEG-COOH is a hybrid bifunctional polyethylene glycol crosslinker containing active maleimide group and carboxyl group. Maleimide is easy to react with thiol group in the range of pH 6.5~7.5 to form stable thioether bond. It is often used to couple with thiol group on protein to realize site-selective modification of protein. Carboxyl groups and amino groups form stable amide bonds, and can also undergo esterification reaction with hydroxyl groups. PEG crosslinked maleimide has good water solubility and is convenient to use.
