He surely became a bit less "restrained" and more true to himself after leaving the trappings of modern society on Earth and encountering danger here in Cthululand.
But this part where he's acting as a different kind of character makes me wonder if he'll learn a bit more about his "true self" by removing even more of his psychological and moral restraints.
Like maybe finding out that he enjoys acting in a certain way that he never would have otherwise because of preconceived notions of morality or of what kind of person he though he *should* be.
Makes me wonder if his journey through Faceless will possibly be less about "discovering the acting rules" of his sequence and more about "discovering himself".

This was a very cute solution to the problem. One presumably does not see top aid of top admiral just "hanging out" outside a window of a cabin too often... Putting myself into pirate's shoes, I know I would be flabbergasted. People often compare such situations to game of poker, bluffing, etc. This is not bluff, because here a card is "revealed". The issue however is that one has no idea what has been revealed.

I wonder what Danitz's actual power level is to be scared so much by the killing intent from the glove. If we think about it, Klein is only a sequence 6 with a sequence 5 artifact, but 3000 pounds isn't exactly low either. Maybe the 3000 pounds is a cumulative reward from all his previous misdeeds and not in pure correlation to his beyonder sequence?

I dont think it is that high.
The bounty should mostly reflect the damage they cause and the difficult including their ship, crew, and their backing and danger.
As for sequence, remember the norm is around 3 years to digest, not sure if that is including talent. There is also the few years it takes to even get his hands on the first potion.
There are also many who are stuck at sequence 9-7. The nighthawks main force in a small city is sequence 7 nightmare.
My guess is sequence 7-8.

For rear admiral like qilangos or iceberg their bounty are 20k ++ pounds and their beyonder sequence is 6 or 5. For klein who have sequence 6 beyonder power maybe have bounty like that if he become a pirate. For danitz he just a fourth boatswain so he's very unlucky to meet klein and become bullying target 😂😂

He’s mysterious, with cold sharpness and somehow aloof but gentlemanly, in front of his adversaries is intimidating and frighteningly mad and brutal but he keeps being warm and kind with those who befriend him or help him even if it it was just recently. 🤔I think he’s a representation of the extremes of the moral values of Klein... and For some reason he remembers me a little to vampire hunter D and Wang Lin from HN1F... 😎👍

Holy ****, now that I think about it, I was making a joke about how he will do just that in mids of volume 2 but never thought it will actually happen in the next volume

I've read the mtl of the volume 3, and man, this is far from boring. There's a reason why Klein's "Gehrman Sparrow" persona has gained the title of Crazy Adventurer. The beginning chapters are just the icing to the cake😋

There is quite a lot of myth and stories to play with on a sea adventure. After all it is one of the last bastions even on this Earth where supernatural superstition can still run strong. We know so very little about our oceans. The amount of mysterious circumstances that happen at sea even today can be frightening to some. I thought it was a good choice of setting for a novel like this. Primed with mystery.
海上冒险会遇到一大堆的神话还有传说来等着你探索。毕竟这大概是地球上唯一一个超自然迷信依然盛行的地方了。我们对于我们的海洋知道的太少了。每天，大海上发生的大量神秘自然现象都会令人感到恐惧。我觉得对于这本书这样以神秘为灵感的故事，这是个很合适的地点。

I'll crack up if Klein beats up a bishop in front of everyone. Also, the description (or lack there of) for Paavo Court doesn't describe his body or clothes at all--only his head. I wonder if he's just a floating head, so there isn't much else to describe in the first place...

Damn its getting more scary with every chapter . Now i know why i love this novel . Dont know why its not in top 10. It has to be in top3 for sure and it deserves it .

Normally, after seeing him abilities of different pathways he'd assume he is a shepherd. His craziness is even fitting for that.

No he noted in the chapter the difference between devouring the souls as food (take it as the upkeep cost to keep the item under control) and taking their souls to be "grazed", which is what is needed to use their powers.
Gehrman devoured the corrupted bishop's soul.
不他在这一章已经解释了吞食和放牧之间的区别，吞食是把灵魂当做食物吞掉（这是为了防止这个物品失控需要付出的维持代价），放牧是把他们的灵魂“捕捉”起来，这是为了使用他们的能力所必需的的。
格尔曼选择了吞食那个被污染的主教的灵魂。

Yeah, the Beyonder characteristics definitely remains. It's indestructible after all, even the old grazed souls from when Qilangos still used the Creeping Hunger left behind their characteristics when Klein released them.
Just the characteristics alone can't be used to mimic their powers though. The Shepherd needs the actual souls to be grazed.
是的，那个非凡特性绝对会留下来。毕竟非凡特性不会被毁坏，甚至连齐林格斯用蠕动的饥饿的时候抓的灵魂被克莱恩释放之后都还能留下他们的非凡特性呢。
不过只有非凡特性的话应该没办法用来模拟他们的能力吧。牧羊人需要确实的人类灵魂才能放牧。

He's already corrupted, if not already twisted to begin with, and immediately lost control in battle. I'm assuming to graze Beyonder souls you need them to still at least have some rationality/ ego / id left, at that point there's not much alternative left.
那个主教已经被污染了，就算一开始的时候还没转变，在接战的一瞬间他就立刻失控了。我觉得放牧一个非凡者的灵魂大概需要他们依然残存一定的自我意识，这样的话对于这个主教来说就没有什么可选项了。

Probably correct. Otherwise, the creeping hunger would eat beyonder characteristics directly rather than "souls containing characteristics".
