1. Design Principles---2-4.Texture

P7 - 00:00 

so now you see we got another the blank canvas.  like put a shape. Now we see a shape, but we have really big trouble to tell If this was a sphere or is it just a disco? Is it a hole in the black caves? 

P7 - 00:17圆形很难分辨平面的还是立体的。 

So we need to form, once I put the form, like I created this really simple 3D set up in photoshop.

Actually, like I will keep saying this again and again, simple is good. So that's why there is a way to do your stuff in photoshop and keep it simple, always go for it.

That's why I like 3D photoshop. It's very simple. And it allows me to spend more time on trying to figure out creative problems rather than technical once.

Anyway. It was just a side note. So you can see that you can move your light around. Actually see this as a spherical object,

Because you can see the cross sections and you see the way light interacts with it.

But there is no way to tell how big this object is like. Is it the small one, or is it a huge one? Is it just like the size of a golf ball? Or is it something else? So that's why you need a texture.

And if you activate this one, you can see, oh my god, that's a huge object. It’s the size of the moon,

for example. Let me just move the lighting. I'm moving the right one. So like this one. Now you can see it moving the light. And you can see the way the light interact. So make sure it's something that will definitely tell you the scale of this object.

Like you can see, i've got the bump over here. So you can actually manually adjust the pump.

And for smaller objects, the bumpers, like if it's a small planet, like the size of the moon, you probably see a lot of small bumpy details.

that’s why this texture tells you that this is moon size like option.

Or maybe it's like a big asteroid If it had worked on a regular shape. But still you can have a really clear idea of how big this object is.

But let's move on and see the jupiter. But these guys were really, really big.

So that's why it doesn't have a lot of bumping Information on it. It's more color. 

P7 - 02:31有凹凸不平有颜色。 

You see, but still with all the texture, with all the cross sections.

Like, remember. I was telling you to tell the form. there is a strong light, but also what reinforces the the forum is the fact that you've got this cross sections going over this planet.

It will go like this. So you can clearly see that Texture has a big impact on the way in It’s look. And this is a completely different story on previous previous two, we were around the moon. And this one way around this Jupiter, which is gigantic. it's huge. Sure. It's amazing.

And now let's move to the Saturn, So Saturn is a different story. because it has also different shape, Because Saturn has rings that gave it a very specific look.

Whatever you see, the just the shape. let's imagine that there was no light. No texture, you would immediately tell it’s a Saturn,

It's just planet with rings around it. But texture and light just make it look even better. Look at this.

It’s almost feels like you're flying in one of those dimensions. And you just flying by the Saturn.

You can do all sorts of stuff at it. Like it could change perspective, lost all light.

What’s happening? But you can see that texture gradient, meaning a big color slide. Let’s just move on and we can show you Mars,

with the Mars, it can rotate on Mars. You can see the difference like the North pole or the south pole with a frozen water. It just gives you a nice idea how big this is thing. 

P7 - 05:12南极北极冰冻的水。 

If we were doing a story about Mars, you will definitely need a texture to show this story and combined with the light, 

P7 - 05:22材质和光亮展示火星。 

you can create some really cool, magical stuff. Like look at Europe. Something like that. So texture tells you a lot of things. That's why texture is another very important design element tell your stories.
