I Still Know Who She Is 我依然记得她是谁
It was a busy morning, about 8:30, when an elderly gentleman in his 80s arrived to have stitches removed from his arm.
那是一个忙碌的早晨，大约8点半左右，一位80多岁的老先生来取胳膊上的缝合线。
He said he was in a hurry as he had an appointment at 9:00.
他说他赶时间，因为九点有个约会。
I took his vital signs and had him take a seat, knowing it would be over an hour before someone would be able to see him.
我记下了他的生命体征，让他先坐下，因为我知道要过一个多小时才能有人给他看病。
I saw him looking at his watch and decided since I wasn't busy with another patient, I would evaluate his wound.
我看见他在看表，决定既然我不忙于照顾另一个病人，那我来给他的伤口做评估。
On examining it I saw it was well healed, so I talked to one of the doctors and got the needed supplies to remove his sutures and redress his wound.
经过检查，我发现伤口愈合得很好，于是我和一位医生谈了谈，得到了需要的器械来取下他的缝合线，并包好了他的伤口。
While taking care of his wound, I asked him if he had another doctor's appointment this morning, as he was in such a hurry.
在护理他的伤口时，我问他今天早上是否有另一个医生的预约，因为他很着急。
The gentleman told me no, that he needed to go to the nursing home to eat breakfast with his wife.
那位先生告诉我没有，他需要去养老院和他的妻子一起吃早餐。
I inquired as to her health. He told me that she had been there for a while! As she is a victim of Alzheimer's disease.
我询问她的健康情况。他告诉我，妻子呆在那儿已经有一段时间了，因为她患有老年痴呆症。
As we talked, I asked if she would be upset if he was a bit late. He replied that she no longer knew who he was, and that she had not recognized him in five years now.
在我们谈话的时候，我问如果他迟到一会儿，妻子会不会不高兴。他回答说，妻子已经不认识他了，她已经五年没有认出他了。
I was surprised and asked him, "And you still go every morning, even though she doesn't know who you are?"
我很惊讶地问他：“即使她不知道你是谁，你每天早上还去那？”
He smiled as he patted my hand and said, "She doesn't know me but I still know who she is."
他微笑着拍了拍我的手说：“她不认识我了，但我还认识她。”
I had to hold back tears as he left.
他离开时，我不得不忍住眼泪。
I had goose bumps on my arm and thought, "That is the kind of love I want in my life."
我手臂上起了鸡皮疙瘩，我想：“这就是我想要的爱。”
True love is an acceptance of all that is, has been, will be, and will not be.
真爱就是接受现在的一切、以前的一切、将会发生的一切及不会发生的一切。
