A lot of people have never seen a western toilet, let alone urinal. It's not so weird considering what a hub Paris is.

CedarWolf：If the men's room has a urinal and a stall, the women's room will have two stalls. If the men's room has three urinals and two stalls, the women's room will have four or five stalls.

Every once in a while, you'll get an outlier, like at this one pool I used to work at, the men's room was only half of a restroom because the other half was the pump house. So the men's room had two urinals and a stall, while the women's room had 6 or 7 stalls, a wall of sinks, and a storage closet.

The women's room is often larger and nicer than the men's room, and it will always have an equal or greater number of stalls.

essendoubleop：Reminds me of a fixer-guy I heard on a Podcast for companies on the West coast. In the early 90's he was hired to provide consultation for a new company's new building that was just opening up.

The company had just hired a bunch of people from India? Bangladesh? who had no experience with toilets. When he was shown the bathrooms, he nearly threw up. There was feces literally everywhere, the sinks, the urinals, the garbage, the toilets (rarely inside it though). The company initially thought these people were being fucked-up ingrate assholes, but they realized they didn't know how to use the restrooms.

Some of them were standing on the toilet seat to take a shit, some were sitting on it facing backwards and spraying out in front of the toilet near the door. He came across one guy who was scooping it up with his hands. Talk about a culture shock.

这就是文化冲击....

My little brother did this when we were younger.

He was about 5 and I was a few years older, at a Chinese food restaurant in Niagara Falls with my parents. Dad asked if I could take him to the bathroom so I said sure.

They had those urinals that go to the floor and my brother starts popping a squat I’m like “no those are for pee!” He says “I want to use this one”.

So he finished and we went back to the table and holy fuck there was a commotion from the staff 5 minutes later lol I told me dad and he was like oh no

Anyways, moral of the story is yes sometimes you need that sign lol

无论如何，这个故事的寓意是，有时候我们确实需要那些标志的存在
