Before you can be a painter who can paint what's beyond mere memory,you have to inculcate(反复灌输) that discipline skill.And a lot of that is painful repition and hard grinding(难熬的，无休止的，刺耳的) work.

It's the sacrifice of the present for the future.

But once you manage that,then things open up and virtually everything you learn of value is like that.

And there's arbitrary(随心所欲的；专横的) rules you have to follow and bind(捆绑) yourself to.While you're learning those rules,the probability that you have any creative freedom to speak of or any facility with the rules(驾驭这些准则) is very low.

And even to some degree,whatever crrativy you have is going to have to be stifled(扼杀；使窒息) while you are passing through that keyhole.But if you passing through it something massive opens up on the other side.And it is definitely the case that disciplinary institutions,universities are exactly that they are the places of guidance and they are the palces toencourage people to develop the discipline that's necessary to see beyond the discipline.I mean that's why we have discipline,right?The words aren't there by accident.

You have to narrow yourself first and then you can brodan outward. That's also the part of the process of maturation and the sacrifice of childhood.

In chilhood you're nothing but potential,it's not been realized and you don't know how to realize it.And the question is how do you get to a point where you realize the potential.And the answer is you sacrifice almost all of it to a single direction.

Once a discipline was established then the discipline mind could explode(发散) in every direction.So that's the thing about growing up is that when you are a teenager and a young adult you have to sacrifice everything you could have been as a child,to be the one thing that you are aiming at.But then that opens up and universities are part and parcel of that process.
