Of all the governance issues for a nation, food is always the top priority. Food safety is a key building block of our national security and the top priority of our state governance. For one thing, for China, a country with a population at 1.4 billion strong, food safety is a key strategy eternal to the state governance. Ensuring food safety lays solid foundation to achieving economic development, stability of the society and security of the whole nation, which is also the unshakable responsibility to the government. For another, food is also the key strategic supply closely associated with the wellness of the people and the economic security of the nation. Therefore, China must have firm, full and permenant control over its food supply, and issues with food must be solved by China itself with its own resources and competences.
