7.4 译成汉语的形容词

下面这些由动词转变而来的副词，译成汉语时，可以译成形容词。

1. Customers are increasingly looking for environmentally friendly solutions and the

new milk packs and jugs will be top of their shopping list.

越来越多的顾客在追求有利于环保的生活方式，而新的牛奶袋和壶将是他们购物单上

的首选。

“increasingly”由动词“increase”转变而来，译成“越来越多的”。

2. For Google, checking books out of the library could prove frighteningly expensive.

对于谷歌来说，在图书馆之外从网上查书需付出的代价，可能会贵得惊人。

“frighteningly”由动词“frighten”转变而来，译成“惊人”。

3. When two Americans look searchingly into each other’s eyes, emotions are

heightened and the relationship becomes closer.

“searchingly”由动词“search”转变而来，译成 “探究的”。
